This is 1 hour show which cost you around 120 Rs per person.
If you have done Dharohar show at Bagore ki Haveli then there is no mean to attend this show. As both are almost same. For First 30 min , there would be puppet show and last 30 min , rajasthani folk dance performances by artist.
There was only 4-5 people in the hall and they run the show for just 4-5 people also.
Even if there is 1 person , show will run.
I found Dharohar a bit better as you can book the ticket online however cost is almost same i.e. it is 100 in Dharohar and 120 in Lok kala mandal.
Timings are 12 to 1 pm and 6 to 7 pm daily

Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal promotes traditional performing arts. It includes a museum and a cultural show which comprises of Kathputli Show and Traditional Dance. Both the shows were entertaining. My 4 year old son enjoyed the Kathputli Show a lot. A must visit place, I would say.

The Bharta lok kala mandal (which includes Udaipur folk art museum and other folk art exhibits) is a fascinating exhibition of area tribes and their traditional dress, activities, and customs. There are very descriptive signs throughout so a guide may not be necessary in this museum but we had one and he did add value. Make sure to see the puppet show while you’re there.

Horrific, indescribable, the most splendid trivia we've seen in a long time. More than a dance, it's choreography without any grace. It’s only worth it if you’re exhausted and need an hour’s rest in the air-conditioned theater’s chairs with loud music.
During the dance, practically none of the dancers have smiled. During the first part of the show they danced like automatons, without rhythm or passion.
The puppet show is a puppet ride on stage while live music plays. However difficult it is to master the puppetry movement...
In the second part of the dance show, the dancer was smiling, something to thank.
The theater was full and everyone applauded but I would not recommend it.

We wanted to visit the museum and see a puppet show. The travel books suggest that the shows were in the early evening. TA reviews suggest that there was a show at noon, too. That's what we banked on! On arrival, they suggested that shows ran every twenty to thirty minutes. We spent maybe a half hour touring the museum's collection of both Indian and international puppets, then sat for a short [maybe 20-minute] puppet show. Maybe the evening show is more elaborate. We were pleased with what we saw. It's a modest but interesting museum.

We were in Udaipur and just about managed to get here before closing time (6 pm) ,way back after visiting Kumbhalgad.
As said in title, JUST DON'T MISS IT. They have Rajasthani Folk music live, folk dance- forgot name of person, what he does on stage is just stunning ! And a magnificent Puppet show.
Everyone is so involved and motivated, its simply beautiful !! Musicians also are terrific.

2 things , didn't like- too cramp sitting, and announcements/compering was hardly audible. Either sound system or the announcer spoke in too low a volume.

Take your kids along or go alone if kids are not with you. Either way you will not be disappointed.

Another thing is , management can look at permission for camera , flash etc. Too many flash clicks become irritating.
Thanx guys you are doing a great job'

A primitive, yet informative history of puppetry and musical instruments in India. Not all for children, but displayed to teach them about their heritage. When our tour group visited the museum it was almost empty, except for a few other foreigners looking around. It seems that it is a regular tour coach destination that helps the local economy. The building and stairs are old and creaky, which lends to the mystique of the place. It is interesting to view the diorama models, constructed to show village life and entertainment. The museum houses historic masks, models, dolls, pictures, puppets and musical instruments sourced from personal collections, public donations and bequests. Entertaining puppet shows for adults and kids are performed daily. There is a souvenir shop attached to the side of the small parking area. The toilets which are located in an outbuilding near the carpark, are primitive as well and not for the faint hearted. A visit is recommended, if you are interested in the cultural history of entertainment in India.

Entry ticket is very reasonable. Compared to the show and performance is shown inside. It is an unmixed. Dance performance and cultural show and it is untouched by modernization to some it can seem little more ethereum. But it is fantastic what they do.

I love this little puppet museum. I haven’t seen anything like this anywhere. It’s understated and to use an Australian term, daggy. That does not take away the feel of simple ‘puppets’ showing the life of some Indian people, and other cultures.
