- Guide061262407031 contributionAmazing hospitalityWe went there to see vintage cars collection and we are truly impressed with their hospitality. Special thanks to Mr. Devilal who guided us through the collection. He had put genuine efforts to share us all the knowledge. He is so kind and generous and because of his welcoming nature he will always be part of our good memories of the visit.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 15, 2024
- geo3Calgary, Canada2,448 contributionsIf you're in the area and like cars . . .Certainly it's not a destination on its own; as others have said, the collection is quite small. If you are in the immediate area anyway, and like cars, you probably will enjoy this. I did. There is as much information on the information boards as you find in most car museums, more than in some. I appreciated the information on the engine power, etc. As for price, this is one of the few places in India where foreign tourists are not treated as second-class citizens (i.e. you have to pay two or three times as much as locals). That may explain some of the comments from reviewers who are from India regarding entry price; they are probably used to lower entry prices than here. By western standards the entry price is fine. If you're not a car-lover, however, give this a miss.Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten October 25, 2024
- Joanna S205 contributionsNice visit if you’re into carsReally enjoyed our visit. The tickets are a nice keepsake and we spent time looking at all the beautiful cars and learning about their origins. It was starting to go dark when we arrived so the friendly, helpful staff turned all the lights on for each vehicle so we could see properly. Enough cars to keep children engaged and a good variety. We had a couple of drinks at the Garden Hotel restaurant afterwards. We spent about 30mins looking at the cars, but can get around quicker if neededVisited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 15, 2025
- Chandan ShirbhayyeHyderabad, India254 contributionsWorth visit for Automobile enthusiasticsWonderful visit to vintage car museum. Thanks museum is managed by Royal family of Udaipur and they have displayed vintage car ranging from 1924 to 1989 with all prominent brands under display. All the cars are maintained incuding tyres and people managing museum are friendly. Roshanji was a encyclopedia on cars and shared lots of trivia with us . Ticket is 400Rs for adults and they have adjacent vegetarian restaurant and bar in same premisesVisited January 2025Traveled with familyWritten January 30, 2025

Vintage Car Museum is located near to the City Palace. The museum is having around 20 classic and vintage car collections including Rolls-Royce, Cadillacs, MG, Ford etc. All the antique vehicles are well maintained, certainly a place to visit especially for car lovers. However, high entry fee may deter people to visit the museum.

Originally it is a garage of the King and is converted into museum. One can actually see very closely the cars used by the King decades ago. Although the entry fee of Rs. 400 is steep, it will be a good experience for young kids to know how the verhicles look like decades back. It is also recommended for vintage car lovers.

A part of the itenary in the city of Udaipur... over 20 vintage cars preserved very well in ita individual shelters with all the vehicle details.
All the cars work well to date and the existing king does still drive each car every now and then ....
The high point was the horse buggy and the chariot... beautifully crafted.

If you are a vintage car enthusiast, this must go on your itinerary. The museum has beautiful vintage cars in great condition. There are boards next to the cars detailing the car specs. There was a caretaker who showed us around and also explained the features and history of a few of the cars. It was fascinating to see that in spite of the lack of technology, how advanced some of the features in those cars were.
There is a restaurant attached to the museum but it didn't look very appealing from outside so we didn't go there.

They have only a dozen vintage cars which you can observe from outside. It's only a 5 mins tour for which they charge 400Rs entry fee which is too much.
Car lovers may find the place interesting but the entry fee is too high for the collection they have. Some cars were not even tagged correctly.

The place is highly overrated and can be skipped. They charged an exorbitant amount of Rs.400/- as entry fee with the place having only few vintage cars. There is no guide to explain you about the cars or show you the engines etc.Within few minutes you can have a glimpse of all the cars. There is a restaurant in the premises which is also not too great. The place can do a lot better by lowering the entry fee and making the visit more interactive. Completely avoidable.

400rs entry and just 20odd cars, 2 buses and a few horse drawn carriages. Alright I agree that vintage cars are all about quality, nostalgia and not about quantity. But what's the point of having them parked in a "no access" garage with only the front visible? I want to admire the car from all corners, take photos for my vintage car album from all angles. It's possible to take photos only from the front. What a rip-off!

If you or any of your family members are automobile fanatics then you gotta visit this place. Not on routine tour sight seeing options,it has its own quaint charm. The guards there are helpful and can share some interesting stories about some of the cars/buggies. The parking space is ample, easily accessible by senior citizens and kids alike. Washrooms are clean! and they also have a hotel where folks can stay and a restaurant too that serves authentic rajasthani thali - which we could not try though.

Wastage of time and money. Ticket cost Rs.400/- for adults and rs.250/- for children upto 12 yrs. A total of 20 cars are in operational condition out of 23. Not a single Vintage Car was extraordinary. There is no wow factor even for car lovers. It hardly took 15 minutes to visit the garage. They should at least add a vintage car ride to make this place attractive.

If your into Cars then go, but if your thinking this museum will have some stellar classics, that have been restored, forget about it! You only get to see the front of the cars and you can't walk around them. When we visited only 4 cars had been fully restored - which where actually really nice. However, the other cars looked a little tired and forgotten about. Not worth the money (400 each) and we finished it within 20mins. If your a budget traveller, probably worth a skip and buy dinner for the monies instead.

Can someone share the restaurant name which is outside Vintage collection of classic cars ?
Written June 17, 2016
The bougainvillea-coated Garden Hotel and Restaurant, it's within the premises.

Price is around Rs. 250 - Rs 300 and this museum is worth more then that for sure.... Also dont know about the thali, if u want something to eat go inside and check it out, no need to take combined meal with ticket coz it depends on person to person about taste...

Hi, it will be of immense help to me if you kindly let me know timing of the day when we should visit this place. And what is the estimated time needed to cover the place. Is there any entry fee for the place? And how much time should I arrive at the place to get the tickets?
Written March 27, 2015
I would say this place is not worth for the penny you pay. If you are not a vintage car enthusiast, better skip it. Another suggestion would be to go there during lunch time (around 12:30 PM as there will be crowd if you are late), have a sumptuous meal (its really delicious) in the restaurant at the entrance and then you may decide to take that vintage tour or not by looking at the car collections (limited) outside.
