One of the relatively spacious ghats on lake pichhola , you can see city palace , taj and Oberoi from here. We went there in the morning before 8, even though the sign board says entry is free till 8 the guard will insist you pay him 110 bucks per person, 10 entry fee and 100 camera fee, whether or not you intend to capture pictures.
What is worse, ticket counter was not even open till well after 8 am so you have to pay the guard.
In the evening they start claiming entry tickets are sold out so you must purchase the photography ones.
All in all, an experience soiled by inefficient, dishonest and rude caretakers.

This ghaat is one of the most popular one in Udaipur. The entry fee for Ambrai Ghaat is 20 bucks. This ghaat had a lot of pre wedding shoots happening when I visited in the early morning. At one side of the ghaat, some people were taking bath and washing clothes as well. This ghaat has backdrops of Taj Palace Hotel and Jag Mandir.

A little off the beaten track and therefore less frenetic than the other side of the lake. A good place to mix with locals as well as tourists.

If time is not sufficient, Ambrai ghat is the best place to get the views , specially sunset views at lake Pichola. We had stayed at Amet haveli which is exactly at Ambrai ghat and had lovely views.

Ah, wat a heavenly bliss a place it is .. nothing much to drool about with Ill kept ghat n staircase n the adjoining area due to government neglect..
But visiting it at evening time , just when the furious sun sets , then the images of it from behind the nearby Taj (right in d centre of the lake) coupled with absolute peace is wat makes this place a must visit ..
Go with Ur loved ones , click umpteen pics , Sur around water , have a dekho of the opposite area housing the city palace and the cafes and just let the night creep in !
Look for the famed ambrai ghat restaurant just next to it ..
Ps - do take Ur eatables n munchies n cameras ..
Do get clicked on the bridge connecting both the sides of the lake .

I will be in Udaipur December 7th to the 9th and would like to see the sunset at the Ambrai Ghat along with the sound and light show at the City Palace.
Someone said it is not possible to do both in a day because they allegedly occur at the same time. I am not interesting in staring for a long time at the sunset. I literally only want to goto the ghat, take a couple of pictures of the sunset and then leave.
Does anyone know when the sunset starts around December 7th and how long it lasts?
Also, how long by car does it take to go from where the ghat is located to where people sit for the sound and light show at the city palace?
Is the Ambrai Ghat near parking or do you have a long walk to get from the parking to the ghat?
Do people think that it is possible in the same day to goto the ghat to take a few photos of the sunset and then goto the city palace's sound and light show?

Ambrai Ghat is a fantastic place and i would suggest you to spend your evenings, sun set time at Ambrai Ghat.
you just need to walk 100 m, from the car parking area.
Reaching Ambrai Ghat through car will be possible in the morning, but in the evening its difficult for the car to travel through congested roads to drop you near by Ambrai Ghat.
Sound and Light Show at City Palace should be good. i haven't spend time for it when i visited there, but it should be less interesting.
Puppet Show at various places were interesting ,For eg: one @ Lokpriya mandal was good.
