My girlfriend (experienced painter) and I (beginner) both were able to leave with masterpieces that we will cherish forever. For me, he showed me lots of cool designs to paint and I picked my favorite, a painting of Ganesh. He gave me tips as I went, picked out the right colors for me, and helped with the most detailed parts of my painting. I came out with a professional looking painting that I can proudly say is mine!
For my girlfriend, he provided the materials for her, helped her choose the right colors, and did some of the finishing details when she became tired towards the end.
Throughout the whole time we had a great time chatting with him and the occasional local who would come by with free Chai for us. It was a laid back and enjoyable way to spend the day!

We enjoyed a great traditional art lesson with Lala. He was very patient with teaching us his family's techniques. We really enjoyed it and had a beautiful miniature painting to take back home :)

We spent the morning with Lala and he thought I'd his technique on paper! We learnt how to use local colours and he was really patient and answered to all our questions! Really recommended!!

We have been with Lala and Tinu qith a group of 8. Everybody have great fun and learn a lot. They had great patience and share all knowledge.

Udaipur Art Villa is located in old city near Bagore ki Haveli. The art gallery includes delicate traditional artwork on various stuff like cloth pieces, paper, animal bones etc.
Also, it offers to teach (for a charge) stuff like carving and painting to visitors. A good place for a visit for an art-lover or creator.

My mum and I took a miniature painting class with Lala (the teacher in the shop) and it was absolutely fantastic - so good that we came back the next day for another class! From the moment Lala walked into the shop, a calm and positive aura filled the room and he was encouraging, friendly and fun the entire time. After explaining to us the process of miniature painting, step by step he helped us to create a masterpiece! He was on hand to help us correct mistakes and give us ideas and we learnt so much. For only rs250 per hour, it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. He is an extremely talented artist and I would definitely recommend him.

Lala is a very good teacher. You can choose from different designs of him, but you have also the opporunity to draw your own motive, like I did. He was very patient and helped me when I asked for it. If you want a lesson in traditional indian art, visit Udaipur Art Villa, student artist school.
