The museum itself is not very big but it does give you the history of the present day royal family of Jodhpur. You see some heirlooms and some beautiful vintage cars! The palace is set in beautiful gardens. The palace is also on a hillock...More

Large part of the Umaid Bhavan has been converted into a hotel. Museum is a tiny part of umaid bhavn with very limited items on display. Visit if you have lot of time left, else you wont miss much.

Unless you have the money to stay here, you will see only a couple of poorly designed display rooms at the back of the palace. There's a steep fee for entering the hotel even if you are there just to have tea. It is a...More

You can only see the museum here, which covers 1/5th portion of the palace. You can also stay in the Taj Hotel if you're not on a budget. If not staying, you can just grab a quick bite at their royal restaurant.

I do not find Umaid Bhawan palace Museum as unique. I cannot relate myself too much with the items displayed over there. Can ignore visit if their is time restriction, otherwise just visit.

This one is a bit tricky to rate. Its huge and aesthetically appealing, quite impressive from outside. But once you enter, there isnt much to look around. Pink Sandstone walls with Brass doors do get monotonous after some time. Museum is enclosed in pretty small...More

Umaid Bhavan Palace was a disappointing display. Not much to see. After seeing a few of such exhibits, you get a feeling of repetitiveness

This is very attractive and very charming from outside. But when you go there. You will find the you will just just exploring 10% of the palace. Vintage collection of car are good. But do not think too much from this palace.

Help requested in tour planning (14 Replies)
Hi, I'm planning to visit Rajasthan this year in the month of October. My tour duration will be 8 days. I'll travel with my parents. Both my parents are senior citizens. I will start my journey from Kolkata. I'm willing to travel without help from any travel agents. I have prepared a preliminary tour plan. It will be really helpful for me if you please verify the itinerary and suggest me if it is possible in 8 days. Or what should be the duration to cover the places. Please help me if I'm...More

So I've been working on an itinerary.. think I have a basic one made up for Rajasthan area but just need to know if each place will have enough time or too much time ( not too likely haha!) for what I have planned. Also if anyone can tell me how much time is needed for each of the sites, that would be awesome! We also don't know if we should hire a private driver for some days and to take us from one place to the next and keep the same person for many days throughout the trip or not, so...More

You've done some terrific research. You could hire a car and a driver until Jaipur. Bear in mind that the car will have to go back to where you initially hired it from. So those miles will be added to your bill. Overnight train from Jaipur to Jaisalmer is the best option in my opinion. While you itinerary doesn't seem rushed, it does involve a lot of travel. Having said that, your itinerary is also quiet complex. To find the best travel companies for your trip, websites such as...More
