    Absolutely amazing
We visited Spice Paradise as a group of 6 students traveling India, and the cookery class was absolutely amazing! Easily one of the best things we have done all trip. Rekha and her husband were so welcoming and friendly, and clearly so passionate about cooking and teaching us all they knew! We ended up staying for 6 hours while they talked us through 7 different things to make all in perfect English, and gave us an amazing hand written cook book to take home with us. All of the food is vegetarian and uses completely fresh local ingredients, with only bottled water used throughout cooking! Absolutely lived up to our expectations based on other trip advisor reviews and I couldn’t recommend a place more! Rekha even invited us back for chai the next morning and her husband helped us find Tuktuks back to our hotel. They were so interesting to talk to and I’m so glad we were able to get a booking to visit their amazing home.

The best thing we did in India
We booked the class having seen all the amazing reviews online, and despite being a last minute group of 6, Rekha and Anil were able to accommodate us with ease. Coming off the street, you walk through the spice shop, before entering the family home which is steeped in history. We instantly felt extremely welcome, with Rekha giving us an introduction and Anil giving us an amazing, in-depth lesson on Ayurveda and the various herbs and spices that can help with certain ailments. Every single thing we made was delicious; from the chai at the start, the biriyani and the roti with paneer curry. All the ingredients were local, fresh and delicious. Rekha was so patient, taking the time to explain everything and make sure we were all enjoying ourselves. Whilst it says the class is around 4 hours, it is so easy to spend 6-7 hours there without even noticing, which underlines just how engaging and enjoyable the class is. It was so amazing to see the blends of spices that Anil creates and sells, and we would highly recommend purchasing some at the end of the class to recreate the dishes at home. An absolute must for anyone visiting Jodhpur!

    Best experience in Jodhphur
This cooking lesson taught me so many useful and applicable skills for everyday cooking, as well as significantly helping me to understand Indian cuisine. We were welcomed by Rheka and Amil, her husband, who were immediately hospitable, which was shortly followed by some very tasty masala chai (learning the recipe). The evening continued for another 6hrs, as even though the lesson was only for 4, we loved it so much that we stayed! It was a food filled evening, which ensured that we all rolled out of their home very satisfied and fulfilled; to return the next day for some afternoon tea. I highly suggest that everyone visiting this city visits this shop and does this course, it’s something I’ll never forget

Amazing cooking class and wonderful experience
We had a wonderful time meeting Rekha and Anil and had the pleasure of joining one of Rekha's cooking classes during our stay in Jodhpur. The cooking class was truly the best experience I had in India by far! Rekha taught us many different recipes - chai masala, lassi, biryani, raita, dal tadka, naan, chapati - and told us about the significance and benefits of each different ingredient and spice. The food was truly amazing and we had a wonderful evening with each other, full of cooking, eating and learning about each others' cultures. A great way to experience the Indian culture and cuisine! The class is only a 1000 rupees per person and we spend more than 4 hours cooking (time flew!). Rekha and Anil are the kindest people and I would definitely recommend everyone to stop by their shop and join one of the cooking classes.

One of the best experiences we have had in India
We had the best time with Rekha and Anil. They invited all six of us into their home with such kindness and taught us so much. Whilst learning how to cook lots of different dishes we also learnt about the ingredients we were using. We were given drinks throughout and spent a long time there helping with preparation of food as well as eating the end products. Everything was clean and Rekha used bottled water to cook. The course takes place in their home which has a lot of history to it and Anil makes all the spice mixes himself so we were able to buy some after to take home with us and use along with the recipe books we were given. I can't wait to try the recipes at home. We were even invited for chai the following day - they were the kindest people we met in India !

10/10 would return for the love!!
Spice Paradise, such an accurate summary of this business. The Sharma family gave us one of the warmest welcome in to their shop. From the presentation and education of each spices, their benefits, pairings, recipes, we found ourselves invited to sit and drink Masala Chai demonstrated on the spot along with the family. We ended up spending nearly two hours in the shop, covering preparation, our travels, our family values, suggestions for my injured finger, to eventually meeting one of their daughters, who was also a beam of light. Crossing paths and meeting this family was a blessing, highly recommend for the wonderful spices, tea, but especially for their warm invitation.

Unique Cooking experience that nourishes both your tummy and soul
Our family consisting of 3 young adults in their 20s did a cooking class on our last night in Jodhpur and it was probably one of the highlights of our incredible Indian vacation. We have visited many beautiful places in Rajasthan, stayed in incredible palaces and hotels, eaten in the best restaurants but this experience was really unique. Not only was the food we cooked absolutely delicious, we were welcomed into the most beautiful families home and not only did they share family recipes, they shared stories and jokes that kept us all so engaged. It was so fun for all of us and we walked away feeling not only nourished by the food we made but by the whole experience and warmth they showed us. Thank you for opening your home to us and making our last night in India so memorable.

cooking class! It was one of the best experiences at our 1 month trip around India. Through her Ayurveda background Rika explained to us not only how to cook Indian food, but also why it’s cooked in this way and what benefits does each single ingredient bring to us. We learnt how to cook several dishes, from Lassi, to Chai, to Panner and Biryani as well as Naan and Roti! We also left with a free cookbook (13 recipes) and a bag of spices that will help us bring Rika’s recipes to live in our own country. Besides the amazing culinary teachings, the 3-4 hours we spent with Rika allowed us to ask questions about religion/culture, etc, which enhanced our experience even more. To end this review I’d like to just mention that both Rika and Anil speak in a perfect English which makes the experience even better.

Being a guest in Rehka’s and Anil’s home is more than participating in a simple cooking class. From the first minute we felt warmly welcomed and part of the family. Lots of learning about Indian culture and living next to learning about how two cook and prepare several North Indian dishes. Hope everyone gets the chance to enjoy the wonderful experience of meeting this family!

We had our first cooking class here 10 years ago and returned, this time with our kids (5 and 8). The hospitality and pleasure to show the most famous Indian cuisine are still intact. Our daughter (8) could participate in every dish. We totally recommend this place if you're interested in learning how to cook Indian food!

An excellent experience. Rekha was warm and hospitable and welcomed us into her home. She cooked a number of authentic Indian dishes with us and explained the use of all the spice mixes. We were also able to purchase some to take home at very reasonable rates. It was one of the highlights of our trip to India. I would highly recommend if you are in jodhpur that you take the opportunity to have this experience

We came across this cooking class online and dropped by the store to book it. Rekha’s husband greeted us warmly and explained what we would be cooking during the class. Rekha teaches you how to make chai tea, explaines (a lot) about all the different spices used in Indian cooking and teaches you to make several dishes (which I think can very). We made a vegetable biryani with raati, a curry with paneer and saffron lassi. We also learned how to make roti and naan. The price of the cooking class is really cheap if you ask me, especially considering you eat whatever you make (which is a lot) and leave with a full stomach. Even though the price of the cooking class is cheap, Rekha really takes all the time you need, explains everything and will answer all your questions. I think we were there for a good four hours! Afterwards you are free to buy some of the different masalas she uses, but it is completely optional.

I would definitely recommend taking a cooking class here if you have the time!

Echt een aanrader!

We came across Spice Paradise by chance, and went in to buy just a bag or two. Instead we ended up spending some time with the couple who owns the place. It was a moment spent in family, sharing about our lives and our shared love for cooking. We had a small improvised cooking class fir the best chai masala we have ever had. Not only were tips refused, but we were offered some free spices for tea making too. Wonderful people, wonderful experience.
