This one of of the most beautiful Havelis in Jaisalmer with its intricately carved exteriors and interiors courtyard. The house appears to sit on a platform with stairs in the centre leading up to the porch and then courtyard. Two statues of elephants made from the same yellow sandstones of the building sit on the edges of the platform, flanking the the house like guardians. The house is still occupied by a family and the part that is open to tourists is the courtyard which is also a shop for souvenirs. I wouldn't bother going inside unless you want souvenirs.

This private haveli is very beautifully designed by two brothers. Each side of the haveli looks slightly different than the other side. You can find the differences if you pay close attention. Even the two pillars in front of the entrance are of differing heights. Spend the time and see if you can find some of the differences.

Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli is a private haveli, situated in a narrow by-lane. The visitors’ entry is not allowed, one has to see the haveli from outside. External view of the haveli itself is not very special that warrants a mandatory visit. No loss even if it is skipped.

The building has outstanding architectural features, but I rate this as poor because our guide hauled us inside for "the tour." This "tour" consisted of only 2 very dingy rooms of minimal interest. For this bogus "tour" the owner informed us that we had to purchase an expensive souvenir for which we had no need. This was required to help maintain the building and they don't charge admission. Well, for so little to see, admission would have cost very little compared to the souvenir purchase. Look at the exterior and avoid entering the building.

Next day was Nathmalji Ki Haveli, another beautiful and historically rich haveli that used to be the house of Mohta Nathmal, the then prime minister at the Jaisalmer royal court. The haveli boasts of a rich architecture splendor with stone carved windows and walls ornamented with stone figures of horses, elephants, flowers and birds. The entrance of the haveli is guarded by two big yellow sandstone elephants, one on each side. Thus ended our first day of mighty exploration and eye warming glitzy experience of Rajasthan’s royal history. Tired we retired dreaming about what the next day had in store for us.

This Nathmal Ji ki haveli was commissioned to serve as the residence of Diwan Mohata Nathmal, the then Prime Minister of Jaisalmer. Maharawal Beri Sal commissioned the construction of this Haveli. The architects of this haveli were Hathi and Lulu who were brothers. There is an interesting story regarding this Haveli construction. It is said that the two brothers started building different facets of haveli simultaneously. In those days there were no such instruments, which could keep a track on continuity and thus when this building came up finally it had an irregular shape. There are two Elephants made of yellow stone. These life-size replicas have been put in front of the main entrance so that it looks as if they are guarding the Haveli. There are also pictures engraved on pillars and walls. These consist of Horses, Cattle, and depiction of Flora among other things. But the most interesting aspect of this haveli is the drawing of modern amenities such as cars, fans. It is a tourist delight to visit and see its architecture. Must visit.

This Haveli was constucted by Diwan ( Prime Minister) of Raja of Jaisalmer. Two architecture brother were being given the work of constructing this Haveli. The duo out of competition designed the half portion each in different manners and using different scriptures just to gain the aclaim from the Diwan Saheb. The work is basically of interlocking stones without using any adhesive. One and half Kg pure gold was also being used to decorate the meeting room on the first hall. In all a must visit Haveli.

This place looks great from outside, but thats about it, just 5 minutes walk from patwon ki haveli, you may just go there and pose in front and take some pics, and see the difference in left and right side of the monument, but thats about it,its a private residence with souvenir shop in basement, and nothing much else to see, very avoidable if you are on just 2 day trip and unguided, if you did miss it, there is nt much that you mightve missed...
