"Gandhi Chowk Street" is one of the most busy and typical streets of the "Golden City" of Jailsamer! Located at the very heart of the Sadar Bazar area and near Hanuman Circle Road, it attracts a whole crowd every day! Typical shops, street food, souvenir vendors and beautiful "havelis" (the old sandstone carved mansions with intricate latticework) will catch your... More

There is a really good little hotel here that is suitable for backpackers, travellers and solo female travellers. The location is good and within easy walking distance of good local restaurants and the bazaar. Area is usual for India - full of life, chaos, litter, wandering pigs, chickens, goats and cows. Lots of cheap Tuk Tuks available for the inevitable... More

The street can be disgusting at times, there is nothing special about it. Not actually sure why it is even listed.

This Chowk is located such that one essentially has to cross. He may or may not be aware of this though. All the monuments are close to this place and mandir palace hotel and tourist centre is close. The chowk remains busy throughout the day with localites galore. One may try Samosa and mirchi bada here. The crarot halwa we... More

We enjoyed Masala tea at Munna Tea stall, locally famous teashop. Tea was served in Kullahds, small cups made from mud. Tea was very tasty that we repeat our order. Another near by local shop is Radhe Radhe pakore wala. Just try his Mirchi Pakora, very delicious, crisp n I found it better than what available in Jodhpur.

A nice, lively, narrow street, easy to walk in, lots of shops. Keep going until you get to Huanaman Circle for some real people watching.

This review is for all those travelers who have immense love and interest for local food. While you are in Jaisalmer, your trip is incomplete without trying the local delicacies such as Dal pakwan. Dal batti churma and kachoris have become commercialized but if you want to have authentic Rajasthani food, go to Vaishnav Chowk (Just outside the fort enterance)... More

We strolled past innumerable small shops where the locals purchase everything from housewares to clothing. Biggest problems--walking feels dangerous and breathing is difficult due to the pesky, sooty motorbikes that dart everywhere with horns blaring.

All the major attractions are pretty close from here. You can easily walk and see all the major attractions like Mandir Palace, Nathmal ji Haveli, Patwa Haveli, Golden Fort etc.
