Jai Shankar Handicrafts in majestic Rajasthan showcases Thar Desert Antique...

Jai Shankar Handicrafts in majestic Rajasthan showcases Thar Desert Antique Embroidery and Textiles. The embroideries in this region of Rajasthan are impressive. Traditional wedding dresses, opium bags, and dowery bags come from desert villages and are sewn together as patch work wall hangings, bed covers and many other things by local people. The owner, Shankar Khatri, has a Diploma in Culture and Tourism and a passion for arts, so he also creates custom, one-of-a-kind designs.

We went to this shop in search of a specific design in fabric that we had seen at our hotel. What we encountered was an amusing banter with the manager that resulted in a purchase price that we were all happy with. Shankar is a very funny man and a smart business man. If you are wanting quality textiles with... More

Mr. Shankar is very friendly with great sense that humor. You can experience that with his conversations as well as the slogans on the displayed items! Must visit this shop, right next to Jaisalmer fort parking area!

I was hiding from the sun the whole afternoon and finally decided to go to meet a friend who spent 3 hours in a single shop! I was scared at first, but really got into the charm of the owner who invited us for dinner. He really is what selling should be : customized and perfect service! Take care, thanks... More

We visited Jai Shankar Handicrafts on a miserable wet day in which there was a prolonged powercut but, nonetheless, the staff welcomed us in, lit up the shop with torches and sat us down with a cup of tea. We were specifically after clothes so they then pulled out shirt after shirt until we had a small mountain piled up... More

Shankar and his staff went beyond to find me a white elephant cushion cover-just 1-and we had great chats. Invited us for the evening but it was our last night and we had plans. Fabulous shop-go there-you won't be disappointed.

Nice shop. Nice collection. Nice people. Negotiate your prices. They will listen to your prices. Good location too. Avoid national handloom shop and RTDA shop beside this store. Those are cheaters.
