Jai Shankar Handicrafts in majestic Rajasthan showcases Thar Desert Antique...

Jai Shankar Handicrafts in majestic Rajasthan showcases Thar Desert Antique Embroidery and Textiles. The embroideries in this region of Rajasthan are impressive. Traditional wedding dresses, opium bags, and dowery bags come from desert villages and are sewn together as patch work wall hangings, bed covers and many other things by local people. The owner, Shankar Khatri, has a Diploma in Culture and Tourism and a passion for arts, so he also creates custom, one-of-a-kind designs.

My boyfriend and I visited the shop yesterday after being drawn in by the funny signs outside. We were greeted with chai and patient salesmanship- in fact, we never felt any pressure to buy at all. In the end, my boyfriend purchased a shirt, pants, and a turban (which Shankar, the owner taught me how to wrap for him). We... More

Shankar is the friendliest and most genuine shop keeper I've met thus far in India, welcoming us in for a chat and a cup of chai and teaching us about his culture with no pressure. His shop... More

The owner is one of the friendliest salesmen I've met so far. Made me feel comfortable and at home as soon as I arrived. I went in looking for a shirt, and ended up with a whole outfit. The quality is great, and you can tell instantly. Definitely recommend this place for everyone who wants a hassle-free and enjoyable time.

We went here specifically because the TripAdvisor community said this shop is low pressure. It truly is and we ended up having an outfit custom made for me and it was done by 8pm that evening. The workmanship is wonderful. He is a man of his word and I recommend him highly.

Wandered in here and was treated to some nice chai tea, got to try on some authentic Indian clothing, and had some good banter with the staff who were very welcoming. Great fun shopping.

I walked into shankars place purely just to enquire about the price of a bed sheet and keep going back to my hotel, I ended up staying for hours laughing, and having chai with Shankar, so long that my friend came looking for me because she was worried!! What a great shopping experience and I was happy to spend the... More
