A must visit attraction of Bikaner. It's the fort of the king of Bikaner built by Rao Bika who is the son of Rao Jodha (Jodhpur's queen). Well built fort and has good antiques. Free guide is available after every 30 mins.

While in Bikaner, this is a "must visit". This is the only famous fort in Rajasthan which is not on the top of a hill.
Reaching here is not difficult and there is vehicle parking space inside the premises. It is well maintained with some areas restored well. The evolution of the fort with its architecture evolving over generations can be visualised within 2 hours.
The crown piece of the fort is undoubtedly the oldest invaluable sandalwood throne dating back to the Rathodes (from Kannauj to Bikaner).
Our visit was made memorable by our guide Wasim (+91 98290 99847) whom we met outside the gate itself. Besides being proficient in Hindi, English and French, he has a thorough understanding of the history of Bikaner and its culture. With a keen eye for best spots for memorable snaps, he captured our trip in photographs for us in addition. On further enquiring he offered to guide us to authentic Rajasthani food and for shopping. Finally we relieved him only in the evening. The day turned out to be a fully packed, eventful and a memorable one thanks to his help.

We had an excellent tour guide and the fort was not too crowded when we went, so were able to enjoy all the beautiful mahals and learn about this unique fort that is not built on a hill like most other Rajasthani forts. It used to be surrounded by a moat that contained imported crocodiles. It was attached multiple times but never conquered and it the palaces within the fort have been built by each successive ruler. One of my favourites was badal mahal which depicts clouds, lighting, and rain to teach children about the rare event which was to be celebrated in the desert city. I also learned a lot about the weapons used by the Rajput warriors and the great accomplishments of Maharaja Gangasinghji. I highly recommend visiting this fort during a trip to Bikaner.

Only fort of Rajasthan that is built on plains not hills. Built by rulers of Bikaner across centuries and still maintained by Royal estate of Bikaner Junagarh fort is very well preserved. Miniature paintings on mirrors, Ornate paintings on doors, walls, intricate work on sandstone, limestone and wood,,, gives a feel of marble carving .
Very well presented royal belongings showcased in royal rooms. We had a well informed courteous guide, Mr Mangesh who showed us the fort.
Very convenient and well maintained visitor parking area.
All in all, a must visit fort of Rajasthan

Junagarh fort is one of the oldest fort in Rajasthan. It is located in Bikaner. It is one of very well maintained and clean fort. Bikaner not being on one of the most touristy place in Rajasthan, you will see less crowd in Junagarh fort which makes it perfect for pictures.

The fort exhibits rich architecture and grandeur life of the royals. The colours, artifacts, costumes, garden of the palace are few of the main attractions.

The fort once the residence of royalty houses the old residences of the maharajah of bikaner. It is a marvel and worth watching. A guide is must if you are interested in the history. The monument is well maintained. Privately owned guides are also required to pay for their entry

One of the very few forts in Rajasthan which was not built on a hill. The architecture is very beautiful and there are numerous palaces, courtyards, balconies and temples. The main attractions are Karan Mahal, Phool Mahal, Anup Mahal, Chandra Mahal, Ganga Mahal and Badal Mahal. There is also a museum displaying manuscripts, paintings, costumes, weapons, etc. Hire a guide if you want to know all the history associated with this fort and it will take a couple of hours to cover the entire fort.
