This is couple of decades old, and does not mingle with rest of the historical sites. One needs to climb a small hill, filled on either side with many shops, eateries and lots of people. I, personally, did not find this attraction a must see!

Just outside the bustling city perched atop a hill is the oasis of peace. It has a very soothing and calming effect.

Located in a hillock, can see this place from the highway. Located in the bank of Daya river. Once you climb the hillock, first you find a Hindu temple. The Dhauli Buddist monument is on the backside. One can see the Daya river from the monument. It has statues of Lord Buddha in different poses. A very peaceful place.

If you can walk, then prefer a walk to stupa from the base of hill. Top is around 2 kms from there. The scenic view and greenery around the way is charming. In between, Ashokan rock edicts is a must see. Preferable to visit in evening. Sunset view above Daya river (The historical river which was once filled with blood... More

It is around 8 KM from BBSR, on the way to Puri. nice place for Photo up. You can find splendid Edicts of King Ashoka embossed on a mass of rock.,it is besides the Kalinga battle field, a vast plain and the river. The marvelous Shanti Stupa or Peace Pagoda is nice place to spend quality time. quite peaceful.

It is situated on a Hill where Kalinga war was fought causing huge killing to the extent that the River down the hill was having human blood . Seeing this the king ASHOKA changed his mind and got converted to Buddhism which teaches piece and only piece.
