The place where supposedly, Kalinga war was fought. About 40 minute drive from Bhubhaneshwar and on the way to Pipili and Puri. Shanti Stupa is truly a marvel and at the bottom of the hills, one can also find edicts of Ashoka. Definitely a must visit place

It is far from main city. But it is having its own importance. It is famous for Shanti Stupa which is situated at Dhauligiri Hills. It is d center of attraction for this place. There is nothing other than dis is available there.

Not a spectular one. Very good view from the around the stupa. Nice and green all around. Nice thing is that there are no hawkers forcing you to buy their products.

Very nice view from the top of the hill. The place gathers a lot of people and it's rather crowd. You have to take your shoes off.

Dhauli giri is located 8km from the the river Daya. It is believed that Dhauli hill was the battlefield of the Kalinga War between kalinga and ashoka . The Daya river is said to have turned red with the blood of the many deceased after the battle.

Dhauli represents a very important episode in India history - of Asoka renouncing bloodshed and violence post the Kalinga war and adopting Buddhism. The site of his edicts is nearby. There is now a Light and Sound show about the Kalinga was in the evening which we didn't see but there needs to either guided tours or self guided audio... More

Once upon a time this was a great place to go. I remember as a kid I went there and had goosebumps looking at the river Daya - with all its Asokan associations. But now they have made an eyesore of a temple right next to it and the Kalinga Nippon Buddha Pagoda seems like it was damaged and shoddily... More
