A very Old place
Apr 2018 • Couples
A small historical Church, but very badly maintained. The building is almost in a dilapidated condition. This was built by the British, for their personnel and that is why it is in the cantonment area. It's a very small place and can hardly seat about 100 people. But it is not properly maintained and it's up keep is nil.

Most prominent Anglican church
Aug 2017 • Family
St. Mary's Church is one of the most prominent Anglican churches in Pune. It was used by British soldiers and their families before independence. It has many tombstones and battle honours. It is much crowded during Christian festivals like Christmas and Easter.

Beautiful Anglican Church in Pune Camp
Mar 2017 • Solo
St. Mary's Church is one of the most prominent Anglican churches in Pune Camp and was primarily used by British soldiers and their families pre-independence. This church, which sees a healthy crowd during Easter, Christmas and other occasions, still has many tombstones and battle honours of the troops earned in various wars in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The church has eye-catching interiors, though some of the inscriptions and tombstones are ageing and starting to fade. The walls too seen to be slowly showing their age. Nonetheless, it remains a peaceful place for prayer and solitude.

Apart from Gothic style of architecture, the church also displays a blend of Birtish and Indian architectural style.A Memorial plaque in memory of Colonel William Morris ,is house in the interior of the church. There was also some Memorial related to British soilders in the church.

A walk into history and the halcyon days of the British Raj - the structure is majestic even though it has seen better days.

Fading into the twilight- St Mary's Church Pune
Dec 2015 • Solo
St Mary's Church Pune is a historical gem with many a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered by the discerning seeker...especially those interested in Military History / The Raj days.
What is sad is the state of the church artifacts...not polished or dusted...My black trousers were coated in inch deep dust as I tried to photograph as many memorial plaques as I could. Unfortunately those not at eye level were so dark with tarnished dirt that they were mere black blobs on the white washed walls.
The beautifully carved font, the battle honours are all thick with aged dirt ...you have no idea what the flags looked like. Its a pity really. The Church has enough money but the committee doesn't seem to think that polishing its heritage is worth it.
Nevertheless it is worth visiting

A very special visit.

St Marys sits in the very large Military Cantonment in Pune, as it has done for all its existence as it was built when Poona was a British Army base. Hence the reason for my visit. My mother and her siblings were born there (as was Spike Milligan, comedian ) and three of them were baptised here. The vicar and his staff were very welcoming and helpful. They produced the Baptismal records and there they all were. A beautiful church, very light and airy . I can imagine it full of British soldiers on church parade back in the day!

Small church in need of further renovation
Feb 2015 • Solo
I visited on a Sunday afternoon and unfortunately it wasn't possible to actually go inside (although perhaps I just needed to pay the security guard something and all of a sudden everything would have been possible). From the outside the church is nothing particularly special and looks like it could benefit from further renovation work. Services still seem to be held and a sign at the entrance provides information on times.

Faded Glory
Nov 2014 • Friends
This Anglicant church was built in 1825,for the British Forces in Pune. During the colonial period of the British ruling. This church should have its glorious days.Since the independence of India less % of Christian among the population in Pune.Everything inside the church has become very old.Especially the 2-blade ceiling fans should only be seen in electrical museums. However, after 189 years , this church is still standing firmly in Steveley Road.My friends and I enjoyed the visit to this old worship place. The Gothic designed structure and yhe pretty stain glass windows as well as the respectful Memory Plaques, worth the while of tourists to pay a visit.Edward CHAN from Hong Kong
