Sinhagad fort.. A must see place.
Visit to the fort is mandatory, if you are in Pune... Full of history. Get a guide as well, other wise you will be missing a lot many things. You can reach the hill top by car at the base of the citadel. How ever there is a mad rush on weekends and on 31st December / long weekends. Once the parking is full, traffic is stopped at the bottom of the hill. There can be a severe traffic jam at the top. So... Avoid holidays. Alternatively there is a walking track of five kilometers for those who are physically fit. However if you must see the place,on holidays, reach the fort before 6:00am in the morning ...which is the best time and see the sunrise. Avoid afternoon, especially in the Summer as it can get very hot. Some points.. Apart from the crowds, the place is littered with plastic waste. In any way.. this is a must see place.

Sinhgad Fort, a historical must visit place
It was a sort of planned trip on one Sunday morning of February (not the best time to visit though) with friends. We spend almost 3 hours there and found this place really amazing. The best part, it was a clean place and no littering by visitors. Bad part, it is not preserved much by the government. If required, they can put some entry fee but needs to preserve the history and heritage. A good place to visit with family and friends. You can also enjoy local Maharastrian food with really good taste (under the tree and on a mat, typical desi style). A must visit place if you are in or around Pune.

A brush with history, food, views. What else do you need for the weekend :)
Sinhgadh and Pune are synonymous to each other. This place flows with thousands of years of history ( Yes, not hundreds but thousands). There are multiple ways you can reach the place Trek up, drive or hitch a ride up from the foothills. If you drive up early morning before sunrise, you can catch magnificent sunrise views of the valley on either side and also satisfy your taste buds at the various hutments in Khau Galli

Breathtaking views, mild trekking , beautiful nature , nice nature photography destination , warm people, delicious food
This Saturday morning on 22nd June we visited our own pride historical fort #Sinhagadh & had #unlimited fun! It was a memorable tour with lot of inspiration from our glorious history of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj & his great warriors…. Narveer Tanaji Malusare !! Also we enjoyed the trekking , photography, beautiful nature & breathtaking views from various parts of fort!! On the way while climbing you must taste the “masala tak “ which is better than any cold drinks !! After the trek we had delicious special Maharashtrian food … Zunaka, bhakari, thecha & bharit….. which you will not get in any five star hotel😄 I felt that , we all should strongly recommend , promote & post on social medias about our own such beautiful historical places in #Maharashtra to the tourist from other states & foreigners !! #maharashtraForts #Sinhagadhfort #maharashtratourism #fortsofmaharashtra #unlimited

    Worth visiting such historic place
Really it was great experience of visiting this historic fort on 23rd June 2024 . Spent more than 3 hrs. Mausoleum of Tanaji is a very peace providing. Astonishing defence engineering in construction of the fort on such height.

Best treking place in pune and it is not hard and everyone can try
This is the most visited place in pune for trekking. People of all ages can come and enjoy the scenic view. If you are going to pune, this should be a must in your itinerary. They now have small shops who provide kanda bhaji and parathas etc. Food may not be hygienic but taste good. You can trek if you have energy and old age can also enjoy but initial uphill can be challenging for them. There are ample places for parking and in the fort you can play freebie and football. At the parking lot there are many stalls where you can have vadapav, pav bhaji and other stuff. Ice cream vendor is also present.

We went to this fort early in the morning. As we approached nearer to the fort in our vehicle, local guys stopped our vehicle and said that the road is closed because of work going on and it is dangerous to take vehicles. They told us to go by walk for another 5 km to reach the fort.

As we crossed the barricade by foot, a bunch of jeeps and their drivers who are stationed on the other side of the barricade, offered us to take to the fort, provided we pay Rs.60.00 per person. What is not clear is, if the road is under construction , how come these local vehicles are safe. This sounds like a illegal arrangement between road construction authorities and the local guys to make some money during the construction of the road. We tried to negotiate a lower price, but the drivers didnot budge.

We eventually walked up the ghat road for an hour, past the construction area. Spent some time clicking photographs of the valley. Returned back.

It's always refreshing to visit Sinhagad. The road was closed for repair. So we had to trek up the fort. Tanhaji Malusare's samaadhi (mausoleum) is very informative and beautiful. View from top is beautiful and generally the wind point usually doesn't disappoint (this time it did).

Wonderful visit. This is the perfect season to visit any Gad/ Fort. Weather is good, rains have stopped, so there's no moss/ mud etc. Less chances of slipping. Cool weather helps you walk more, faster, better.
Sinhgad is visited by many - kids from school, couples, families, friends in groups. If possible, better to go on a weekday, so that there's less crowd. One gets very good Maharashtrian lunch on the Gad - Bhakri, Pithale, Vangyache Bharit, Matki Usal, Thecha etc. Kanda Bhaji, Dahi, Taak (Butter milk) are awesome. They just recharge your tired body. The view from above is great.
One can spend either a full day or a half day as per time available. One can take his private vehicle up the fort and safely park (parking fees applicable). After that there are stone steps which one has to climb to visit various points on the Fort.

This is our go to trek every time we visit Pune. It takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours to go from the bottom to the top of the fort. You can also drive up and down now that the road has improved. It’s better to go any day other than Thursday Saturday Sunday coz it can get very crowded. The trek up is fairly easy with lots of stops to look at the view around. It’s better to start early around 6 am. Once you reach the top .,you can spend the rest of the day there wandering around the top. The locals make amazing pithala bhakri, khekda bhajis, poha and vanga bharit..typical maharashtrian dishes. This is a lovely historical fort just 1 hour outside Pune

We trekked this fort after the lockdown was lifted and the trek continues to mesmerize us. After the monsoons the surroundings were lush green and also the authorities have done up the road as well as the fort.
One needs to start early as there is a severe parking issue at the top. Once on the top one is flooded with multiple makeshift restaurants spilling the whole atmosphere. These need to be properly regulated for a historical place with such importance. Samadhi of Tanaji Malusare who won this fort is nicely madeup. During the trek and while at the top there are plenty of good photo opportunities.

A must visit place if you are in Pune. It is one of the most favorite spot, though cliched, for Punekar's to spend their weekend 1st half/morning.

Difficulty level: easy
Time required for trek: 45min - 1.5Hrs
Ideal for: friends group
Best known for: lovely food at the top, not to miss butter-milk, zunka bhakari (local cuisine of Maharashtra), onion rings (called as Kanda/ khekda bhaji in local language)

Worst part is unplanned traffic allowed by forest department, causing chaos every where on Sinhagad and approach roads to Sinhagad. There should be online booking system introduced to make sure limited visitors and ther have better experience. Also there is too much commercialization, most of the tourist come there to have local food, as well as and as well as fritters. Most of them care less on the quality.

Today we entered at 10:00 AM
And exited at 17: 00 PM
