Bird Watching site near Manjari
Oct 2017
The site is on the banks of River Mutha. But its in poor condition. Wouldn't recommend if you are not a avid Bird watcher.

Only for bird lovers!!
Jan 2017 • Solo
This place is only for bird lovers.
Too dirty...almost like a garbage dumping ground. Not at all commercialized... which definitely is good!!
Don't expect as many birds as there are in Bhigwan bird sanctuary...
It is very near to Hadapsar...so if you are nearby...don't have anything to do...love watching birds...and the garbage smell does not bother you...then head towards Kavadi pat. You can spend 30 minutes to an hour over here.
You will see cattle grazing around.
I was lucky to see a dog catching a fish from river.
If this place gets cleaned then it will be a good place to visit. Roads are narrow and not maintained.... but this will not bother anyone as its just 1.5 km from Pune Solapur highway.

Home of Wetland birds but need cleanness
Dec 2015 • Solo
Kavadi is a small village at about 20 Km from Pune which is full of water birds. There is a small bridge on water body from where you can spot birds on both sides.
To reach at Kavadi-Pat, route is Pune- Swargate – Pune-Solapur highway – Cross first Toll on Highway - Continue to drive slowly after toll – Drive for around 500m – Watch out for Manali Resort – After Manali Resort take first left turn – There is hotel 9th Mile / Milestone 9 after you take left - cross Railway line – Drive till end to reach Kavadi-pat.
Good time to visit this place is from Dec to Feb end and early in the morning from 7 am to 11 am. You can walk across a small narrow bridge to get a better view of the birds but be careful as the bridge does not have railings and you have an occasional two wheeler ride across the bridge. My advice will be to walk along the river side for better view of birds and photographs.
This place now becomes garbage dump yard hence not clean area at all.

Good place for Bird sighting
Dec 2015 • Solo
The place is around approx. 30 to 35 Kms away from Pune towards Solapur highway. It is a very well known location for all bird lovers. November to Feb is the best season to visit this place. There is a water body with a bridge going across the bank. So it becomes easy to click best shots once you are on a bridge. I have seen lot of nature lovers ready with their camera's even before 4 am in the morning. Mostly you would find lot of species of ducks, kingfishers etc. but you may get lucky with the Flamingos as well. Its worth trying since Bhigwan (famous for Flamingo sighting) is very far from Pune. You can arrange a good small outing with family / friends and come back in 2 / 3 hours. You should have own vehicle if you want to visit this place early in the morning.

Villagers are really helpful. While returning from this place, i noticed that the tire got punctured however, the villagers offered me lot of help to get the tire fixed.

Kavadi Pat, close to Pune is a treat for bird-watchers
Apr 2016 • Friends
I had started to hear about this place since more than a couple of months and I was surprised to see I am the first one to add review of this place on TripAdvisor. Its around 50 kms from Nigdi, Pune. Located on the Pune-Solapur NH-09 highway, there are no sign boards on the road to indicate the turn to be taken. So while you are going from Pune, once you cross the Uruli Kanchan toll naka, go for ~5kms and watch out for Manali Resort on the left. Immediately after crossing this, there is a sort-of-discreet left turn and after taking the turn, keep following the road: you'll also meet a railway crossing and beyond that, lies the Kavadi Pat. It has a narrow bridge over the river that a few 2-wheelers use for crossing so be careful when using the bridge for photography. You can be a witness to amazing sun rise views and also watch a lot of variety of birds including different types of ducks and mynahs and wagtails and sparrows.
