The temple is dedicated to Adinath and there is an image of Adinath made of black polished granite. It’s a small temple. Interestingly, the relief sculptures on the exterior are a mix of Jain and Hindu imagerary. I wouldn’t go out of the way just to see this temple, but it’s also next to the more interesting Parshwanath Digamber Jain, so it makes a good way to combine the two.

This temple falls outside the western group of Khajuraho temples so not as many visitors. Tourists can skip but those wanting a closer look at Khajuraho architecture and interested to learn about Jain religion must see. It is an active temple complex and there is another one next to this temple worth visiting too.
A lot of credit goes to our guide Dr. Anand Tiwari +919893151427 for showing us this temple at the right time (early morning) and in an elucid way that helped us absorb everything and we still remember it all!
Points to note:
1. One needs to remove shoes/ slippers inside the temples.
2. Early morning is a great time to visit this temple and complex
3. Carry a binocular if you want to capture the minutest details of the carvings.
4. Most Khajuraho guides will get stellar reviews as it is a place that gets the best of India. We were stoked that our guide Mr. Tiwari was addressed as guruji (teacher) by other guides! My friend also discovered that he is the go to guide for a lot of the foreign embassies in India so clearly he is in demand! Better to reserve in advance, than wait last moment.

The temple dedicated to Adinath is a very nice small temple compared to Parswanatha and is next to parswanatha temple. The Gopura is very nicely decorated with beautiful sculptures with sura sundaris. Also has the images of Jain yakshis.Donot forget to see the design and decoration at the roof.
Take nice pictures of this small and beautiful temple.

The Adinath Temple is a Jain Temple and is a part of the Eastern Group of Temples. The idol inside is black. It is a beautiful temple and a must visit . We had to take our shoes off , but I don’t think it is compulsory unless visiting the sanctum sanctorum.

I stayed in Khajuraho 3 days, which is faaar too long. So I had plenty of time to visit the Adinath temple. It amazed me that many locals don't seem to know the temple name. They all know the "Jain temple group", which Adinath is part of, though.
The people gardening and the those "guarding" the temples where all out begging for tips, quite annoying.

This Jain temple comes under the eastern group of Khajuraho temples. This temple is dedicated to Adinath. King Keertivarman built it in late 11th century. Its sanctum has no pradakshina. Temple has lavishly sculpted figures including Yakshis. Its original deity statue was found missing and later another statue was installed. Only two parts of this temple have survived i.e. vestibule and sanctum. Sculptures are of same design as in Vaman temple (I have already written a review of Vaman temple seoarately, you may please visit that). There are some erotic pictures with dancing apsaras.

This small, but beautiful Jain temple belongs to the Jain group of Khajuraho's temples and it close to the Parshvanath temple.

Adinath Temple, an important part of the Eastern Group of Khajuraho Temples, is a significant example of the Jain settlement in Khajuraho. North of Parswanatha is the more modestly sized Adinatha Temple. This ancient shrine is dedicated to the first Jain TirthankarAdinath - the founder of Jainism. What catches the fancy of visitors are the beautiful carvings of Yakshis (female mythical beings and partner of Yakshas), on the entire structure.

The last of the 3 main Jain temples in the enclosure, this one is the oldest and smallest. Still has a wide array of interesting carvings on the outside to admire and the location amongst the trees makes for some pretty pictures. Worth a visit.
