Had low expectations, but on contrary we had beautiful display of various kind of fishes even the exotic ones. Well maintained and got awe struck by seeing puffer fish , jelly fish etc. Mark this aquarium a must visit during the Varkala trip.

The aquarium opens around 10 AM in the morning and is bit away from the papanasam beach but near the north cliff.

Clear modern tanks with - in the main - reasonably informative notices about a variety of fish, both from local waters and beyond. The spiral ramp is a clever use of space. The jellyfish display near the entrance is the pièce de résistance.

though varkala is in itself a "not so crowded" place unlike India, the number of species present in the aquarium and the information shared was a good experience. Also, it was children friendly, good place to go if you are around.

A small, but well maintained aquarium. Has quite a good collection of species. Do visit with kids. The 3D theater showcased a half an hour nice clip on underwater world. If visiting varkala, do visit this place for sure.
