- EarlyRetirementAbroaPrinceton, New Jersey3,128 contributionsSuch auspicious place!Lovely and non-crowded temple. The main attraction is the newly erected statue of Lord Shiva. It is the stunning and magnificent statue. The temple performs the traditional Hindu ceremonies, that can be observed by anyone. We are staying at the nearest resort, so we have the luxury of coming to the temple often and enjoying the new look of the Lord Shiva statue during the sunset, sunrise or at night.Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 14, 2023

- Rupashree CBengaluru, India106 contributionsA panoramic place to visit😍Azhimala is a Shiva temple located on the coast of the Arabian Sea near Vizhinjam in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, India. The temple is dedicated to Shiva and is known for the 18 m (58 ft) tall Gangadhareshwara sculpture, which is the tallest Shiva sculpture in Kerala. The temple is located in Pulinkudi in the panchayat of Kottukal in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. We visited the temple on a rainy day. It’s a divine place lord shiva 🥰🙏. With the sea all around a beautiful picturesque place. A must-visit for all going to Kovalam.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 28, 2024
- Kd SSingapore, Singapore11 contributionsGorgeous Sivan Statue and a Beautiful Picture Perfect Place to Be.A Must Visit. It's a quaint and distant path by a small narrow road. However the travel is extremely rewarding. The entrance to the temple is greeted with colourful deities in typical Hindu temple, a short distance away you will be shadowed by a magnificent sculpture of Lord Shiva in a Mystical and Elegant pose. Glory to the construction of this amazing construction company and the artisans. Also you can never miss the serene atmosphere and the beach from the top. A classic location for beautiful memories captured in videos or pictures. Don't miss this place if you're in Trivandrum. God BlessVisited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 6, 2024
- Big Indian ToursAsia617 contributionsAzhimala Temple, Cliff and BeachThe temple itself is free to enter, but if you want to take photographs of the impressive Shiva statue, a ticket costing around Rs 50 is required. This statue, noted for its intricate detailing and grandeur, is set against the stunning backdrop of the sea. There is parking available near the temple, which is convenient for visitors, even though it is limited. Also, the road towards the end is very steep and it hardly accommodates two-way traffic. The place can be crowded on special occasions in the temple. The sunset at the beach is spectacular with the hues of the sunset sky providing a beautiful backdrop to both the beach and the Shiva statue. Also, the detailing in the Shiva statue is mesmerizing and top-notch. Just a short distance from the temple, Azhimala Beach is praised for its pristine conditions and less commercialized nature. It's an excellent place for a peaceful retreat. It is one of the best beaches in Thiruvananthapuram, compared to other prominent ones, this beach is really clean. You can engage in a variety of activities such as sunset picnics, yoga sessions, or simply enjoying a leisurely walk along the shore. Be cautious as the sea in this area can be rough. Always follow local guidelines and instructions for safety. The beach can be accessed from the cliff, but be prepared for many steps down and a walk through some rocky areas. The walk, though can be a bit challenging. There are a couple of snack shops near the temple where you can grab quick bites. There is a beautiful resort nearby, facing the sea.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten April 12, 2024

This is a small temple made great by the grandiose statue. An excellent photo stop, obviously! Do budget in some time as just adjacent to the temple, there is a lovely viewpoint overlooking the breezy Chowar Beach.

The Aazhimala Siva temple is approximately 25 kilometres from Trivandrum and 9 kilometres from Kovalam beach. The statue of Lord Shiva is magnificent and is built on a rocky cliff with the sea as the backdrop, simply awesome. It was crafted by a 28-year-old artist P. S. Devadathan, a resident of Azhimala. The attention to detail is awe-inspiring. Unfortunately, the temple was closed for darshan in the afternoon and we could not offer our prayers then. The facilities for devotees could do with some improvement including cleaner toilets, so that visitors do not experience discomfort if they stop for a longer duration.

Magnificent shiva temple with Beach backdrop. The Shiva idol is extraordinary and makes us feel awestruck. We can walk to the nearby beach, which is very good. The temple is very much reachable by car. The beach is with rocks and similar to Kovalam beach.

The temple is small but the details are exquisite and it's well worth a visit, especially for the 58ft statue of Siva which is incredible.
It was quiet when we visited, so no need to worry about crowds or queues. This meant we were able to get great photos of the Siva statue from all angles and really study the intricate details.
The beach next to the temple is a few steps away and is very picturesque, so you can visit both on the same trip for a nice afternoon out.

Very disheartened with the attitude of security staff Manoharan. We went with family and the whole day's experience was screwed by him. His attitude starts from collecting parking fee. He abused on us as we didn't keep change for parking fee. Without even considering that we came with family. He scolded us for different times for unnecessary things. Felt very much insulted
