I am not saying it is not good to visit.I saw this planetarium from my childhood.Recently also I visited for time pass. Many additions of 3d,5d however very overpriced and not that much quality especially the spectacle and the screen.
Planetarium is still showing the same topic solar eclipse.I went four times last year very pathetic and not even changing the topic.A lot of topics are available like Mars, stars formation, galaxies etc but they are still stick to the 2000 topics.Atleast these kind of knowledge centers to be tax exempted but they are collecting taxes.Galleries are there,I am giving three star only because of gallery. On some gallery, lights are not illuminated and faulty.

The Priyadarshini Planetarium in Trivandrum is quiet informative and interesting place. We attended a 3D show here and found it very good. The various models though need some maintenance and upkeep to keep them in viewing condition for the visitors here.

It pains to see how such a "tourist attraction" is so disorderly and in such a sorry state. Went there with an intention to introduce my 5 year olds to the world of science and space. But the sorry state of affairs there made me really sad and annoyed at the management for ignoring the upkeep of a place which could have been an ideal place for people to understand and enjoy the wonders of science.
Firstly, the place is so shabby - no cleaning/ dusting of the display items ever happens I believe. They have some some machines ( especially in the lower level of the main building) which is gathering dust and non of the audio switches are working! They have on display so many models and equipment which are broken and not working. If you cannot fix it or even dust it off, why bother keeping them? There are hardly any guides or assistants available. There are a few members - presumably there for helping out the visitors - who sit in some corner busy with their mobiles. You can spot them in almost each section - that is why I guess that they are part of the team!!
It is housed in a beautiful property and the parks are decently maintained.Even the ISRO - rockets display floor is acceptable. If only the authorities could show some interest and maintain the displays, it could be such a lovely place for kids and adults alike to explore and enjoy. We need some enthusiastic people to pep up the place and create the interest for scientific quest in the general public. Right now it is an absolute shame to call it a tourist attraction!

Priyadarshini is one of the best planetariums in India with the best film projector. The seating is also very good. They screen different themes, and the medium will either be in English or Malayalam. The children and adult will enjoy the screening.

The Planetarium also boasts of night sky observatory, telescopes etc. and is a must visit place in Trivandrum. Don't forget to take your children and elderly people - they surely enjoy.

Very good planetarium for all ages. Its hardlly half an hour show. Ticket price is 60 for adult and 40 for children. The screen is huge and the seats are comfortable. Near the planetarium there are other attractions like Physics museum, 3D theater, etc. Kids will definitely enjoy it. A must see thing in Trivandrum

I had visited the facility during my school days and last week decided to take my son. It is a wonderful to place to introduce young minds to space and beyond. The planetarium building has several exhibits outlining the history of space travel and India's achievements.
The main attraction is the daily shows conducted at dome theater. The screen is the biggest projection screen in South India and seats are similar to high end multiplex. For ~20 mins show , ticket price is Rs.60 for adults and 30 for kids. The days I visited , show as about the origin of communication and its future. Watching in the dome screen is a unique experience and something children will surely enjoy.

In short the planetarium is keeping up with the changing time and hopefully add more content on space and exploration in future.

The Priyadarshini Planetarium in Trivandrum is situated at PMG Junction, near Vikas Bhavan, Palayam. Built on the same lines as the other planetariums in the metros , this is a must-see for all students of Science, Teachers, and thos who are awed by the Sun and the Stars and Astronomy. The shows are pre-structured and one can chose the time and programme(s) one wants to see.
A Visit to the Planetarium will be incomplete if one does not visit the Science Technology Museum in the same complex. Sufficient parking space is there inside for your vehicles.
