the lake is serene and beautiful. It is located within the sanctuary. Ferry rides are made to let people watch the wildlife here.

Excellent boating experience & reasonably priced. However could not see may animals at the time, we had taken 9.30 AM boat. On line booking is not very user friendly.

We had done boating in Periyar lake on 24th Sept 2016. 1st boat leaves @ 7.30 am. The forest gate opens around 6.15 am. You need to take the entry ticket (indian adult Rs. 33) & camera ticket from the gate. The boat landing area is approx 3 km inside the gate. Vehicles are allowed to the parking area. U... More

Beautiful lake but we had to miss the boat ride. We were late and the bookings were full . But we saw some wild pigs and deers from a distance standing there only with our camera lens. Picturesque view.

The boat ride was a vey long wait on India's independence day weekend - the tickets counter had a long line and waited until 11:30 after getting there at 8 am. The boat ride was worth the wait with lush green forest around. We did not expect to see any wild life but spotted baby elephant, different species of birds.... More

Enjoyed the boat ride seeing many forms of wildlife. Loved the Kingfishers and Cormorant on the dead trees. Have your cameras ready. We saw seven elephants, mongoose, lizards, and bison. We were entertained by many monkeys while getting to ride on the boat. Unfortunately no tigers. This place is OK. The guides were nice enough to take pictures because we... More

I went with my family for boating in periyar lake. It was nice scenic view all around. But we went with expectation that we will watch some wild life there. But we could hardly watch some birds and wild buffaloes there.

Periyar lake is one of the best lake I have visited. It has amazing climate through out the year and it is surrounded by the lush green jungle where u can spot many wild buffaloes, deers and many different species of birds. There is a boating ride available which is managed by Kerala tourism. There are many options available but... More

We went for the 7:30am boat trip. It was STUNNING. The stillness was incredible. We did not see tigers, but saw wild elephants, wild boar and numerous different birds. The Rangers took photos for us and pointed out various points of interest. You all had to wear life jackets and the Rangers did not let people stand, but they treated... More

It's certainly worth a visit...especially early mornings! One will just fall on love with nature and what it has to offer. 😃 The boat ride is worth every penny.
