    Beauty of thriving cultures
    Visited during the peak monsoon in Kerala but will still be one the most memorable holiday. The best way to go around Fort Kochi is walk. A lot of autos that will show you around for a fix rate but if you can just walk about. You can shop for spices at the old spice market, eat amazing food at some really good restaurants or go shopping for really good clothes in jew town. Spices are not priced lower than most places in India but the quality is definitely better

    If you visit Fort Kochi then at least visit the beach area. It’s not wow but worth a visit. A walk around enjoying ice cream will be worth if you have time to spare. Doesn’t require more than 10 minutes in this place

    An average beach experience
    good one time visit. walk around see the chinese fishing nets, go to one of the many cafes around. not really a wow experiece. it's one of those places you visit while in Kochi. Usually crowded

    A comfortable stay
    We stayed at fort kochi beach inn for 3nights. The room was nice and clean The bathroom was also nice although there was s minor issue with the shower which was promptly rectified. Ann was a perfect host. The restaurant was also nice with a limited menu Ann was a good host. A comfortable stay at s reasonable price.

    Fort Kochi small beach
    when compared to other beach not so attractive. marina beach and goa beaches this place is not good. i enjoyed travelling from Fort kochi to Vypin by ferry, and from Vypin to high court by Metro water. Stayed nearby hotel for 3 days - why i did not mentioned, where i stayed as it was not a good hotel and food was very costly. i have written an horrible experience review for the same hotel. you can visit Anantha bhavan resturant Veg very tasty and worth for money. 550 mtrs from Vaso Gama square. here Kerala tourism is available, just opposite to fort kochi metro water entrance.

There is a lot of work being done for the 'Smart City' operation with piles of gravel scattered in various areas.
The whole area along the beaches looks abandoned by vendors and restaurants remaining closed or shut down and plenty of litter piled up along the promenade.
The ferries were running and the fishermen were seen which made up for a disappointing trip here.

An Excellent Evening in Fort Koch Beach

I have been to this place more than 5 times I think, first time, visited with my college friends and teachers in 2017
at that time I couldn't enjoy the beach because I was distracted by my playful friends and their jokes. Even though Kochi is a place I have come several times but I have never even thought about visit this beach, But then again I had the opportunity to visit the beach during the next year Binale, at that time I started to like the evening vibe of Fort Kochi beach. And In 2020 when I got a job in Kochi i started staying with my aunt who is living near this beach and I spend my evenings at the beach. From the street vendors to the sand in the cost, everything attracted me a lot. just because it was night time.

Filthy beach and promenade

It could have been a lovely evening but unfortunately, the place cannot be enjoyed because of all the trash that is everywhere. It has to be seen to believe how much litter is strewn on the beach and promenade.
There is a long stretch of built-up promenade to walk along but very little thought given to providing places for people to sit and enjoy the breeze and sea.
The place is crowded with vendors leaving very little space to walk in peace.
I guess the main problem is that people do not feel they need to dispose of garbage in the bins provided but it also seems that the civic authorities do not clean up at all.
Quite distressing especially since most people seemed to be unbothered by it and were even having little picnics on the beach in the middle of the garbage there.

Not a fort, its a beach side market and walkway

Its not a fort ... many outsider may plan visit thinking they may see a fort. Its a beach side location with shopping and option to take ferry rides. Ok to visit if you want to spend some leisure time and take a walk in the beach market. This can be missed if you have seen beach markets.

Small sandy beach not suitable for swimming in Fort Kochi

There is a small stretch of sandy beach at the far end of what is called the Beach walkway. It can also be reached by car or motorbike. The Kochi authorities do make an effort to keep the place clean, but face an uphill battle against numerous mostly Indian tourists who throw their waste around. I even saw a man throw his empty plastic water bottle right into the sea!

Swimming is prohibited. Even if you do feel the urge of going into water, keep in mind that polluted water from the port area is flowing into the sea close by. Most people visiting the beach are fully dressed.

Best time to visit is early morning when there are few people around. The place is peaceful and quiet then.

Fort Kochi is a cute little part of Kochi city. It's a beautiful small town in coastal Kerala. The scenic beauty of this town is absolutely mesmerizing. It's a perfect blend of history with modern elements. Full of beautiful cafes and shops. It has very affordable accomodation places, specially hostels.

Experience Ferry ride from ernakulam to fort kochi both at day and night. Go to vypin from fort kochi by a ferry and try water metro from vypin to high court fort kochi ( Walk along Marine drive to reach ernakulam ferry station) Take a ferry back to fort kochi.

Fort Kochi, Fort Cochin in English, Cochim de Baixo ("Lower Kochi") in Cochin Portuguese creole, is a locality in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. The locality is 16 km away from Cochin city and takes its name from Fort Manuel of Cochin,[1] the first European fort on Indian soil, annexed into the Portuguese East Indies.[2] This is part of a handful of water-bound islands and islets toward the south-west of the mainland Kochi, and collectively known as Old Cochin or West Kochi. Adjacent to this is Mattancherry. In 1967, these three municipalities, along with a few adjoining areas, were amalgamated to form the Corporation of Cochin.

This was a great place to visit first thing in the morning with no one around - very peaceful. It was even better later in the day as there was so much going on. Although there were a few tourists and stalls with tacky gifts, it still felt quite genuine. The fish market, Chinese nets and walking path made for a vibrant and interesting time.
