We spent two nights drifting the backwaters watching life on the river. There were fishermen, duck farms, people washing their clothes and wild birds galore. Sadly, there was, as seems usual for India, plastic bottles and litter.

We went to alleppey after hearing its much hyped popularity. But what we found was very average boating on not so beatiful and clean lake or back waters. There were atleast 100 shikaras roaming around on the same lake. All of them dumping their diesel pollution inside the water. I didnt see the water very clean. Scenary was too very... More

We came to Alleppy from Fort, Cochin in a cab. On reaching boating station , we hired a Shikara from Sooraj, Durga Tours and travels. Alappuzha. The name of our Shikara was Bhaskaran. Cruising the backwaters on a shikara was quite an experience for us. Once you are out in the vast open and see the views, you thank yourself that you made this trip and Alapuzzha doesn't disappoint in this respect, to say the least.
