Kerala back water is the beauty of Kerala. explore by house boat or by shikara is amazing. many packages like group boating, individual shikara, speed boat, house boat are available. group boating cost is 400 per person, individual shikara is approx 2000 for 2hrs. It is a very good experience to explore Kerala by shikara or houseboat.

We spent two nights on a houseboat in the backwaters. The stopped at small villages, a Toddy Parlor. It was one of our highlights on our trip to southern India. Spice Routes was the boat company and they did an outstanding boat trip. This is a family owned business and cares about the passengers

We overnighted on a Xandari houseboat..a converted rice barge and loved every moment. Our trip consisted of the 2 of us and 3 crew including a chef who produced delicious local cuisine. The atmosphere is unique and seeing life on the banks and the locals daily way of life, along with plenty of wildlife, was a wonderful experience. The bedroom was... More

Its all getting a bit like Venice. There are some stunning areas. But sadly there is also alot of dross along with other boats.
