JCT houseboat..for 2 persons. one A/C room. 1 captain 1 chef. Excellent local food.. Nice onboard service.. Above all "THE beauty" of boatride n stunning ambience n scenic... More

The Vembanad lake at Kumarakom in Kottayam, an enchanting picnic spot and a fast developing backwater tourism destination, provides boating in houseboat trip. The mechanised and motorised tour section of DTPC has a wide range of luxury boats and speed boats for backwater cruises on the Vembanad Lake

Kerala backwaters have been talked about so much and all good things said are justified at this lake. We took a motor boat for 2 hours. The ride was calm, peaceful, soothing to the eyes and a bliss. Part of the Keralan back-waters, home to many inhabitants, animals and a t the same time very productive agriculturally. We made a house boat tour, visited a protected Island, stayed at the KDTC Waterscapes resort, visited a bird sanctuary and made a boating tour in the canals. We saw a lot - monitor lizards, birds of prey, many other birds,... More

Amidst the hectic running around on a tour I found our day and night in a houseboat to be pure bliss. The houseboat housed six people with a crew of three, captain, cook and general jack of all trades and they looked after us superbly. The food was excellent and used local ingredients including fish sourced from the lake. It... More
