We went there around 12.30 in the day time and found almost no one is there, hardly 7-8 local guys / students were playing among themselves. There was no shops, no hustle bustle, no other commercialized things around. The view was good. the beach was wide enough. There is not a single shop, or any Washroom facility. So please plan... If you prefer to enjoy the nature alone in a silent peaceful way visit the NITK beach. View of the sea from Shri Sadashiva MahaGanapathi Temple is mind blowing.

The beach is beautiful and this place is good for beach lovers to spend weekends along with children. Swimming is not advisable over here because underwater current is very strong and little dangerous. calm place enjoyable.

Its just the right place to watch the sunset, after 4pm, as the day time would be pretty hot at this place. Few tourists visit this place, would be crowded on weekends and not much of shops and eateries nearby for people to find something to eat. Best place for rock and water photography, some short films are shot here... More

Followed google maps and was there in about 15 minutes from Mangalore. Took a U turn to the left right before the toll gate and i was there in no time. The road is narrow enough just for a car to pass and hence we need to be very careful. The road next to the toll gate is wide enough... More

Surathkal beach with its Light House and Temple presents a calm and nice environment for outing. Sea being bit rocky - not a favorite for swimming, still you enjoy the water and cleanliness. Across the road, from NITK engineering college, and very near to Surathkal town; worth a visit.

Suratkal town near Mangalore is known for the famous NIITK Engineering College as well as Suratkal beach. For the students of the college coming across India, this is a place where they can relax from their daily routine

One of the beautiful and clean beaches that I have visited in Mangaluru, with an additional attraction of a light house. Very few people visit this beach as its a little far from the city.
