Planned a short ride and trek after the main trek got cancelled due to rains.
Place is simple and short, very ill maintained. There is a temple and a mosque at the top. Temple side one can easily spot polythene and agarbatti covers, plastic and glass bottles. On the other side you will find bones and feathers. Also expects loads of monkeys, specially after 10 AM (coincidentally that's when most aam janta starts climbing)
Families generally visit this place to do pooja, followed by picnic and ultimately the "garbage donation part..
Location: It's on tumkur highway, if you are travelling from bangalore you will find Kamath hotel on left, followed by Cafe Coffee Day. The hill on the left is Nijagal Betta, and can be reached by crossing the railway track. There is underbridge 100 meter from of Coffee day.

This place offers so many adventure with ruined temple, Hindu Muslim temple at the same place, caves etc. This place even though so beautiful it's not much familiar to many people hence it's not crowded unlike shivagange. If you are looking for really a calm place with no human intervention then it's the one. The trek rather easy as its very small hill. I recommend not to go with girls unless you are in a group more than 6 people as its quit lonely place where no one comes often rest its awesome.
You can even read my experience to this hill on my blog http://sagarsakre.blogspot.in/2014/12/nijagal-betta-siddara-betta.html?m=1
Have safe n awesome trek

We started from Bangalore around 1.30pm and reached the foothills around 4pm. It is quite an easy trek. There is a Darga on the way to the top, where there were few people who had come to worship. Just a little above the Darga, there is a temple in ruins which we visited while climbing down. Our first priority was to go to the top of the hill. It was an easy climb. There were many monkeys which followed us to the top. At the top there is one more Darga and a cave temple. The view from the top is breathtaking. But the place is very dirty. There are lots of thrown clothes and plastic. We couldn't stay at the top for long time owing to some bad smell from the waste things. We took about one hour to reach the top and another hour to come down. Then we visited the ruined temple. It was a good trip but the only negative thing is that the place is very dirty, not maintained at all.

Nijagalbetta is among those perfect place for a barbecue night and camping, located in close proximity of Bengaluru (~60km), short and easy trail.
One can park vehicles near CCD/ Kamath or if you are adventurous enough drive till the base.
Even though we carried tents (and pitched) we slept outside on the rock tucked inside those cozy sleeping bags.

Set in the lap of nature, this is a great place to escape from the city. The trek is most fruitful especially before 6:00 am. The sunrise and fog clearing out is a beautiful scene. Few hours in early morning is a good break from the city humdrum

I read above that the place is very dirty now with plastic and rubbish strewn around. Has it been cleaned now!? My daughter is planning on a trek there.

It is still dirty. There are lots of plastic, clothes etc thrown around. You can go for trekking as the path to the top is quite clean. But at the top and bottom of the hill it's still dirty.
