One of Bangalore’s busiest markets, the KR market, hides this surprise: an elegant palace built by Tipu Sultan, with teak pillars and frescoes. Though incomparable to the more famous Tipu Sultan’s palace at Mysore, this is one of the relatively unknown monuments of Bangalore. Visit this palace along with the ruins of the fort nearby. Also nearby are a temple and a mosque.

This is a beautiful old building and there is also a lovely temple next store. You can go up the stairs to the upper part of the building which was good, the complex is quite small but it is worth the visit.

Worth a brief visit. The wooden palace is really small (about 8000 sq ft on two levels). There is no furniture or special drapery inside). The walls are bare but the plaques worth reading. If you appreciate history, this is a significant palace since the "hero" was systematically denigrated by the British, especially since the king allied himself with the... More

Beautiful grounds, lovely building - not as well preserved internally as the summer palace near Mysore but it is possible to take photographs inside the building. Worth a short visit if you are in the area

Bangalore is a little higher than some cities, so it's cooler--always important in India! It is a city with beautiful trees and nice parks, as well as friendly people. I could live there!

Our experience was made very special by using the guide who we met as we bought our ticket. He was extremely knowledgeable and so full of enthusiasm for his role. He brought us around this interesting temple and described life as it was in the time of Tipu Suktan. He also gave us a wonderful history of India and all... More
