Very nice temple and gives you a wonderful sense of inner satisfaction. Quite untouched by commercialism seen in most other temples

This beautiful, ancient temple is a good place to go away from the hustle and bustle of busy life and spend time attaining peace for mind and soul. Recommended.

I did not find anything different from othe temples. There are lots of temple on the away to this place. if you have spare time then only come to this place.

India is full of temples ranging from simple to gigantic size. Many are historical and spectacular. These temples were built by kings, philanthropic persons and devotees themselves by contribution and donations. Pre-independence period witnessed the royal patronage in bringing up shrines in our country. Very often we come across temples built by individual or single family having reverence to their favourite diety.
We have examples of such contribution of individuals and royal patronages in Sujjanrao circle in Viswesvarapuram, Bangalore city. Let us enter the circle from southern or Gandhibazar side. First we visit Lord Satyanarayana temple, wherein you will be stunned by the attractive idol made of Amrutha shile (white marble) with full of divine attraction. Next we enter the famous Lord Subrahmanya Swami temple, which is one of the famous shrines of my favourite Lord Muruga in India. You will be very much attracted by the beauty of the idols of Lord Subrahmanya and His consorts Valli and Devasena on either side.
My faster mother Smt Kusuma Sushilamma Adiramaiah Setty was an ardent devotee of this god and had made contributions for the temple funds. Even today there will be annual pooja conducted in her name though she passed away decades ago. Let is proceed further round the circle where you find temples of Saibaba and others. There onwards to the right you will see the historical temple of Lord Venkataramana Swami, the temple under review now.
Lord Venkataramana Swami Temple in Sujjanrao circle, Bangalore was renovated by Mysore Maharaja Chikka Devaraya Wodeyar, about 300 years ago. Its art is of Dravidian style of architecture. The stone pillar is supported by lion brackets, which were damaged by cannon balls during third Mysore war. We can observe the amazing flowery stone pillars bearing marks of the cannon balls, struck during that war. The later rulers of Mysore made sincere efforts in renovation by attempting to restore its original glory and bring in charming and calm environment in the premises. Infact Tippu Sultan had taken keen interest in restoring the temple to its original splendor and majesty.
Here it is relevant to note the legend of Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala Tirupathi. It is one of the most important Pilgrimage centers in south India, since it is an extraordinary sacrosanct place. The devotees firmly believe that to attain salvation (mukthi), the best way is to worship Lord Venkateswara, because it is Vaikunta, (abode of Lord Vishnu) on earth known as ‘Bhuvaikunta’.
I have seen many temples dedicated to Lord Venkateswara in India, particularly in Karnataka and its capital city of Bangalore. Among many such temples Lord Venkataramana Swami Temple in Sujjanrao circle, Bangalore is one. I find a special attraction in the idol of Lord Venkataramana Swami that made me forget about the time I stood before Him with folded hands.
It is said that every temple is a sacred place where non-violence is strictly observed. Similarly here as well as in Tirupathi temple, where Vaishnavite doctrines are followed, animal sacrifice is prohibited all visitors are treated equally with love and respect.
The temple observes the similar system as followed in Tirupathi in performing poojas. Vaikunta Ekadashi is celebrated on grand scale and other festivals in Shravan month.
There are other important tourist and religious places around Sujjanrao circle, like Lalbagh Botanical garden on eastern side, Tippu palace and Kote Venkateswara temple on western side, city market and Kalasipalya bus stand to the north and Bull temple, Dodda Ganesha, Gandhibazar etc on southern side. You may schedule your program suitably to cover up as many as possible in a day. Good luck.
