Malleswaram, that bastion of Tamilians in Bangalore, is another locale that is a whole world away from India’s silicon city. Watch maamis in their kanjeevarams haggle in the market, visit a temple or two, eat local food and browse through small shops. The Kaadu Malleswara Temple and Sankey Tank are oases of calm amid the bustle. A new arrival on the scene is the incongruous Mantri Mall, much reviled for being the harbinger of modernization in Malleswaram.

This area was first extension of Bangalore. It is actual old Bangalore area where you can feel actual Kannada culture. Temples, shops, markets, roads with green cover will reflect true spirit of Bangalore. However, after greedy builders like Mantri group started Mantri Mall, and huge apartment complexes Malleshwaram is slowly losing its charm. However, it is still one of the... More

You say it - its just there. I love to take a walk in this part of the town and discover something new every time. Truly the cultural capital of the city... More

I must write something about Karnataka state and Bengaluru in particular to better understand its localities from its own perspective. This age old city comprises of its core values, culture, habits, and lifestyle strongly embedded in the lives of Bengalurians or Kannadigas. The spoken language of the original inhanbitants of this state of Karnataka is "Kannada" and so they are... More

This residential locality is in the north bangalore where most of the kannada speaking people live. The residential area has narrow streets and get crowded on festival days.

The beauty of Bangalore still lies in Malleshwaram than the corporate SEZ areas. You get everything in malleshwaram with reasonable price.

I most always stay in Malleshwaram when I visit Bangalore. It has everything all in walking distance and now there is Mantri Mall too and you have the best of the new, old and in between.

One of the areas in old Bangalore - one can find many temples and saree shops. One can find old houses and buildings here.
