About
Visvesvaraya Museum is fun for children and adults. It houses a treasure trove of machines and artifacts related to science and technology. Its interactive exhibits make this a great place for children to develop a love for science. There are exhibition Halls on Engines, Electricity, Fun Science, Space, Biotechnology & Electronics. Animated dinosaurs,life-size model of Wright Brothers' flyer and Steam locomotive are other attractions. There are interesting shows like 'Science on a sphere', 'Taramandal', '3d film show' and 'Science show' held at regular intervals. The 'Science for Kids' gallery is the new addition to the Museum. This is a place designed for tiny tots to play unhindered and engage with science.

Address
Neighborhood: Cubbon Park
In the heart of the city’s business hub is Bangalore’s most favourite garden. Cubbon Park is a beautifully maintained 120-hectare garden where all the local residents of the city take a break. A landmark ‘lung’ area of Bengaluru, the gardens are dotted with a lot of colonial heritage and charm, which are today a part of the state capital’s political centre. Home to the red-painted Gothic style State Central Library, the magnificent Vidhan Souda built in Mysore Neo-Dravidian architectural style, the neoclassical Attara Kacheri built in 1864 and housing the High Court, oldest museums and GPO in its vicinity, a trip to Cubbon Park is a great heritage walk. Sundays at the park are quite a treat with a plethora of activities to choose from - concerts, fun runs, yoga, tiny farmers market, the list is endless.
How to get there
  • Cubbon Park • 8 min walk

Great place to visit with family and friends. Good place for those who are interested in learning everything about science and technology. Best place for those of you with kids (8 years and above), this is the most innovative way of spending quality time together. Each of its floors are dedicated to a scientific discipline. This is an interactive museum that helps kids understand the basic principles of science.

Had been a finalist of the science quiz conducted by the museum.

Had been a finalist of the science quiz conducted by the museum. Good museum with good information and practical experience.
Good auditorium in the first floor. In the first floor, there is a huge model of dinosaur, where you can take a pic of yourself with the prehistoric organism. You can play with simple machines. There is a giant network of momentum balls. There are lot more related to mechanics in the first floor.
In the second floor, there is information related to electricity. There is a section related to various phenomena like infinity well, immiscible liquids.
In the third floor, there is an electronic section and children's section. There is also a space section.
There is a canteen in the terrace, where the food was good.
The toilets were clean and hygienic. Some of the equipments, especially in the electronic section do not work and need repairing. Otherwise, this place develops scientific interest in a person, who is bored of reading textbooks without practical approach.
(Disclaimer: The sections I mentioned may not be the same all the time. The team periodically builds new sections according to the advancing science and technology.)

Learn professional behavior and have little moral values

I have been here with my parents few months back as it is coming under the package of Bangalore Darshan n I swear this was the worst experience I ever had. My parents were both 60+. My mom was bit tired as she is bit old. I made her to sit in an chair which was kept in an corner empty outisde the museum gallery which I think was meant for security guard. since it was empty I made my mom to sit on that chair for few minutes. All of a sudden security guard came from lunch n immediately started shouting at my mom for sitting on that chair. My mom anyways got up from that chair as she felt very offended. I spoke to that guard in Hindi since I came here for few days not aware of language. I approached the guard n said she is very old n there no place to sit here so I made her to sit here. But he started abusing me in a very rude tone . then I approached supervisor over there to my surprise he too was rude cause I didn't spoke to him in native language. Just a request to you guys rather preserving your glorious culture n history inside museum please preserve inside your behavior too. Learn professional etiquette n know how to behave . This incident had left a very bad impression about you guys n your place. I haven't seen such an inhuman act anywhere in my life. I won't revisit this place again in my life neither I will suggest anyone to visit this place. Anyways I didn't find this place is that interesting.

Even not technical personnel also can understand enjoy scienece and technology in easy way. Keep at least 2-3 hrs to see it in full. Actually science freak can spend full day here and still wil feel half seen ! Cafetaria, washrooms, water etc. is available inside. Also many shows are available at different times in day. It is open till 8 pm on Saturday and Sunday. But if possible avoid these days due to heavy rush.
