Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

This is one place which comes alive especially during festivals that are celebrated in the traditional old Bengaluru style. The fruits, flowers, the hustle, bustle, crowds, smells are a delight for those who know old Bengaluru. Visit during festivals for the experience. At other times a good shopping area

This is cultural hub of Bangalore. Been living in his area since my birth. Over years I've seen this transform from a family area to a polluted commercial hub. But even then, during festivals, nothing can beat the atmosphere in Basavanagudi. This is Old Bangalore area. You will hardly find non Kannada speaking folks. Love it! :)

Basavanagudi is located in the central part of the city closer to south bangalore like jayanagar, banashankari. One of the few most peaceful and culturally rich places in Bangalore. 'Bull Temple' is the meaning of Basavana gudi. There is a very famous temple of 'Basava' Bull here on a small 'Hillock' . You find a very beutifully culpted bull in... More

Have been here in the past after searching for this place via GPS and once i reached it was as expected full. Still managed to get a shared table but coming to there authentic South Indian Food it is awesome. Dosas are made of ghee which definitely adds to the taste . Must visit.

Basavanagudi is one of the oldest localities in Bangalore. You get a feel of the local culture, the narrow roads, the small shops (which have everything from a pin to an elephant), and the fantastic food. Gandhi Bazaar, the Bull temple and the Dodda Ganapathi temple are in Basavanagudi.

This indeed is one of the oldest localities of Bengaluru, which along with the other locality - Malleshwaram, still retains its old Bengaluru charm and tradition. It has a few tourist attractions (like Bull Temple, Dodda Ganesha temple) and also is very close to Lalbagh. The Market place in Gandhi Bazaar in Basavanagudi has still got its old charm and...
