Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

I must write something about Karnataka state and Bengaluru in particular to better understand its localities from its own perspective. This age old city comprises of its core values, culture, habits, and lifestyle strongly embedded in the lives of Bengalurians or Kannadigas. The spoken language of the original inhanbitants of this state of Karnataka is "Kannada" and so they are... More

Basavanagudi: Bull temple when translated is the heart of traditional south Bangalore. Gandhi Bazaar (or market) is in the centre of it with criss crossing of a few roads. This market is a must visit for any tourist visiting Bangalore. The entire street is filled with road side sellers of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers. It is really colourful to... More

A good place to shop for Christmas/New year. There is enough and more variety stuff- rather an all in one place for shopaholics. Discounted sales during special seasons make it all the more attractie.

It is so full of life with people and vendors all the time. It especially acquires this beautiful bride like charm during festival season and is a treat for the eyes! ~Bull temple is beautiful and even architecturally amazing. Parking might be a hassle so it is recommended to park a few roads away and walk. The temple is open... More
