Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

Very nice for foodies who love eating local food. Many shops for shopping cloths. Only disadvantage is difficulty in getting car parking space.

If you are in Bangalore, you have to be at Basavanagudi. It has retained the original flavor as per the locals. There's a lot to do around like shopping, strolling around and off course authentic Bangalorean food.

The heart of South Bengaluru is Basavanagudi that is Bull Temple. The annual kadalekayi parishe is famous. Mounds of groundnut will greet customers. This area is surrounded by Gandhi bazaar, Ramakrishna Ashrama, Krishna Rao park. Jayanagar is also nearby. The south Indian tradition, culture all are intact in Basavanagudi. We get lip smacking vegetarian food like masale dosa, Idli-sambar chutney, vada khara... More
