Basavangudi is one of the few areas in Bangalore that have retained its old-world charm. A residential area with quaint homes, leafy roads, markets and temples, a walk here can take you back in time. Always buzzing with activity, Basavanagudi buzzes even more feverishly before festivals. There are numerous restaurants here, some institutions in themselves. This is a good place to feast on idlis (savory cake), dosas (savory pancakes) and the famous filter kaapi (coffee).

This would be a evening visit to enjoy the people, things, etc. Dont forget to have authentic south indian food(esp dosa) at Vidyanrthi Bhavan., You may have to wait, but believe me - It is different from the dosas you might have had else where.

Basavanagudi is a must-visit place for any one looking to experience Bangalore first-hand and original. Some of the most famous local-food joints are located here - Vidyarthi Bhawan, Brahmin's, Kamat. Must Visit - Bugle Rock, Gandhi Bazar, DVG Road Try to avoid taking own vehicles as parking might be tough at times.

Gandhi Bazaar visit is a must if you want to feel the old world Bangalore. Street aligned with all kinds of flower & fruits vendors. The only problem is parking. Be ready to park either near Ramakrishna Mission or near the flyover & then walk all the way. A tad crowded but the Dosas at Vidryarthi Bhavan will make the... More

Basvangudi, Gandhi Bazaar is one of the oldest markets in Bangalore and it still retains some of its old world charm. One can shop literally anything here right from vegetables, fruits, spices and clothes. It is one of the best places to buy fresh flowers in bulk required for religious functions.

Enjoy festive mood here. From eatery to shopping of jewelry, clothing, antiques. Brahmin bakery, Venkateswara sweets, vidhyarthi bhavan, roti ghar, krishna bhavan, baisakhi, uphaar darshini, hotel mylaari are some of the famous eating joints. During Ganesh Festival musical nights with typical karnataka speciality eatery will be held at national grounds.

This is one of the places I love in bangalore where you could spend your weekend evenings. With varieties of shops and snacking option, this will give a perfect shopping experience.
