Not nearly as Grand as described but cool!

Very peaceful place and pretty well kept. I was told one of the biggest parts of the tree fell over and that it used to be much more incredible but I still thought it so!

Known as Dodda Aladha Mara or Doda Aladha Mara, in Kannada is a Big Banyan Tree, which is 400-year-old Banyan tree, nice place for a evening.

Did a road trip from B'lore city to see this big banyan. It was an average drive (nothing scenic) and the place is not at all nicely kept. Had to look for restrooms in the nearby restaurants as the ones inside the park were closed. The place was crowded as we were there on a weekend. Suggest that you take... More

The Big Banyan Tree - One massive tree! Situated just off the Bengaluru-Mysuru state highway (SH 275), the Big Banyan Tree or Dodda Aladamara, is quite popular with the tourists. It is one single tree that covers an area of approx 3 acres and has roots that look as big as a tree trunk on its own! This is not... More

It really is a big tress may be far bigger than anything that you seen before. But there is nothing else to do apart from this. Not worth making a trip to but yeah can be clubbed en route with some place in that direction.

We visited the place which is near to mukti naga and i have to tell that the tree is very huge spread across acres of land. one peice of advice for the travellers is do watchout for monkey who snatch your belongings.

The Big Banyan tree of Bengaluru is quite famous and people in this part of the world knew about this big tree and might have visited at least once in their lifetime. However, just like any other tourist attraction, this place is too plagued by apathy of public maintenance and therefore, slowly & steadily this place is loosing charm. The... More
