Mr Mehraj from Kashmir treks made our hike in Kashmir memorable. He is very professional and a gentleman.

We wanted a 2 person trek organized as we don't like to hike in groups. We had a very particular and a sharp approach to our trek route and Mehr was very accommodating. Basically for every request his only answer was yes. We hiked the KGL and Tarsar Marsar Trek (via Sunbal) in 2023 at the end of June and we were the first two to open the path (mountain passes) for both the treks for the year 2023.

All thanks to the great team, Ali, Amjad, Younis and 4 horses. They took care of us well and we had great fun as a team. The trek was challenging and difficult at times as it was a shoulder season with loads of snow but Ali and others were always there for our assistance.

The only downside was the food. While we were really glad that we used to get hot food in the middle of the Himalayas, the expectation set vs. what we really got was really disappointing.
The food provided/cooked is 'less than basic' unlike what is shown on the website.
The supply was less, food tasted blah, go with zero expectation as far as the food is concerned.

Otherwise we had a memorable trek with them.

Anyone wanting to travel Kashmir, I would advice to you to get in contact with KasmirTreks as it is one of the best agency I worked with to organize an expedition of my lifetime. There are two main reasons, why I would advise to you KwshmirTreks. First one, clear, transparent and fast communication via email, wa, fbm, where I was able to agree whole expedition including itinerary, money transfer, porters.... Second one was, once you are in Kashimir will be in good hands of Shake who will help you to arrange the rest of your expedition. Maybe you need to rent additional equipment, book hotels for extra days, picked up from the airport .....or any other issues you come across.

We went to the Bodpathri Tosamaidan lakes trek between 26th August and 31st August. The trek experience was so mesmerising that I would rate it higher than Kashmir great lakes and Tarsar Marsar lakes. The meadows of tosamaidan are larger than that of KGL. Besides that you get to see the great Himalayan mountain range with peaks like Mount Kolahoi, Nun -Kun and Mount Harmukh throughout the trek.

Now coming to the teekking team who helped us to obtain such a beautiful experience. The team was comprised of Mr. Maqbool who was our guide, Mr. Tahir, who was our cook while Mr. Adil and Mr. Imtiyaz were our horsemen. Maqbool took extra efforts to show us each and every lake. He was never in a hurry and allowed us to reach the camps at our our own pace. Adil and Imtiyaz were such hardworking guys that because of their special efforts we could reach the Bodsar and Pamsar lakes on the same day we reached the Duriem camp because they took us to the lakes on their horses. Tahir used to crack jokes and have fun throughout the trek. Adil won our hearts as he arranged bonfire on each days of the trek.
Finally , we are greatful to Mr. Mehraz Mir, the trek organizer, who at the end of the day provided us with a comfortable stay with food at Hotel Ash Vale near the Dal Lake. Besides that he also arranged pick and drop till Airport.

This is a difficult terrain through thick forests and the inexperienced can easily get lost. We were a large group of 17 with a dozen senior citizens walking at different speeds. 4 "licenced trekking guides" had been provided by the company to manage the large group.

Liyakat, the "team leader" & "chief guide" didnt show up for the trek and we were left to fend for ourselves with only 1 guide leading the trek. The other two guides were assigned as "personal porters" for two of our guests since we had a specific requirement for the same at extra cost. We had been told that local boys will be hired as porters but they chose to do otherwise. This was both irresponsible and unacceptable

However, we could manage to navigate the trail purely because some of us were experiences trekkers and managed to stay the course with few detours enroute.

There was no briefing at any stage and we had absolutely no idea who was carrying the first aid kit and oxygen cylinder, should there be any emergency at any stage.

The team was understaffed and the suppliers were not geared up for leadership roles in the absence of Liyaqat. However, full marks to Ali and his boys for doing their best amidst all confusion.

The organization headed by Mehraj Mir is very prompt and helpful in responding to queries before the trek. However, don't mistake that for professional delivery on ground. There is no effort to monitor the situation. We were not informed that Liyaqat will back out last minute, even though a written trekking permission for the group from the Tourism Department had been obtained in his name. By the time we realized his absence, we were out of network area and no communication could be established with Mr. Mir.

The views and route to Gangbal were spectacular and covered up somewhat for the arduous trek made more difficult without adequate support from the trekking company.

Luckily, we had an empathetic and cohesive group who made the best use of the situation and helped each other. As a result we could make our way back safely from the lake on time, most often fending for ourselves.

The only reason we didn't hold any payment was because we didnt want the boys helping on ground to suffer due to the complete lack of leadership and coordination from the organization. The saddest part was that there was no remorse or apology for putting us through all this ordeal, perhaps because we had managed to make it back safely!

Please ensure you discuss and address all of the above before finalizing any trek with the company.

Visiting Kashmir Valley, I had limited time to research and hike trails so decided to contact KashmirTreks private guiding company. To maximise my time I chose KashmirTreks as in the past I've frequently attempted to self guide on hikes around the world only to find I had missed out on the highlights due to lack of local knowledge and information. I was not disappointed with my choice! I chose a full day of walking and the trails were stunning, blending a mix of alpine and mountain scenery. The combination of woods and greens, sky and breathtaking mountain ranges on the Mohanmarg Hill track stops into off the beaten track (but no less impressive) pine smell were delightful. A light sweater, hat, sturdy walking shoes for the trail and a camera to capture the beauty are recommended. I was very pleased with my choice and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of walking with my guide Nazir who was incredibly friendly, informative and funny. There was a great deal of humour thrown in to the huge amount of knowledge he shared i.e. local Kashmiri culture (very interesting), the history of the Valley as well as an educated understanding of the local flora and fauna. I would highly recommend this personal style of walking tour with KashmirTreks to anyone wanting to ensure they see the real Kashmir and make certain you leave with life long memories. Hope to hike with Nazir again!

We travelled to Kashmir in April to experience the Spring flowers and trek in the mountains.
Shakeel Ahmed, our driver and guide was responsive and reliable. Once we had established the guidelines around Ramadan (which would have been useful to know and understand ahead of time), we worked very well together.
When our homestay accommodation did not match our expectations, Mr Mir reacted promptly and alternative arrangements were made.
The houseboat accommodation reserved for us on Nigeen Lake was exceptional and a definite highlight of our trip.
The day treks in the mountains were of an easy to moderate standard and we thoroughly enjoyed them.

Me & my family just returned from Kashmir, my first experience with Kashmir Treks - It was absolutely fantastic. The professionalism of the company is immediately obvious with the pre-trip information and advice. Our trip leader,Ali, was wonderful and worked tirelessly to ensure the health and security of our group.

The trip involved a 70km trek through the meadows and the goal was achieved by the entire group. We also had time to visit some of the amazing sites in the region. The itinerary was well balanced and exciting.

I'm very much looking forward to further travels with Kashmir Treks and I would highly recommend them.

My son and I have enjoyed an eight day tour from Srinagar and back, via Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, organised and provided by: “KashmirTreks - My Flight Trip” of Srinagar, Kashmir.
Hotels afforded comfort and service with meals very acceptable to European travellers, particularly those at ”the Boulevard” near the Dal Lake. Grading the hotels puts the Taj in Srinagar at the top of the list and the Khyber Hotel in Gulmarg at the bottom. The Glacier Heights fell short on a variety of points but the others did well.
The private car service was beyond reproach, an excellent driver, courteous, careful and considerate, at no time were we alarmed even though there were some horrendous traffic or road conditions to contend with. We were taken to all points listed in the tour itinerary, provided with suitable guides and allowed adequate time to enjoy,
There were two disappointments with the trip: the Srinagar fort was closed by government agencies for all types of visits, a very sad move - also the Gandola service at Gulmarg was cancelled due to some incident on the line - no fault of the organisers.
The overall result, a very good tour!

This is 'Real Adventure!! An unforgettable unique experience...... Our group was 5 adults and 3 teenage boys - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the whole tour - from the beginning the guide explained everything fully and at no stage were we left in the dark. The pathway was mildly challenging at times but the scenery was breath-taking and kept us enthused. I would recommend Kashmir Treks to anyone who appreciates Kashmir's beautiful and untouched landscapes.

Overall it was a very good trip. We did the winter tour package. We had a number of issues and figured out that it would have been way cheaper to book hotels ourselves. I would like for KT to provide a clear breakdown of package costs rather than hidden costs. One of the hotels provided was not upto standard but due to lack of availability there was no alternative.

Do your research on all the hotels carefully before making payment for the package. Gulmarg is more expensive than others. Overall I thought we got what we paid for. Ultimately KT specialise in treks not tours. They organise the driver and act as booking agent for other things taking a margin. Keeps things simple but you have less control of your itinerary.

The highlight of our trip was our driver, Shakeel Ahmad. Great guy, very useful tips and helped bridge the communication issues with locals.
