The place is managed by defence personnels. Please be careful in taking pictures as this place has army installations. the upper section of the hill houses the fort which will surely take your breath away, once you climb to the last step.

The view from here is great and gives a panoramic look. Srinagar city & dal lake looks great from the top. this place has a huge National flag that was recently (2021 August) installed. A good place to venture out and seen and feel 300+ year old heavy wooden doors.

A fort that is currently used by crpf. Houses two temples and a gurudwara. Offers spectacular views of Srinagar town, the Dal lake, Badam Wari. Please carry a government photo id to visit the place. Needs some effort to climb to the top. Entry fees is fifty rupees. The sheer breathtaking view from the top makes it worthwhile to visit.

Today 30th April, 2016, our last day in Srinagar but we are to cover many worth seeing places, marketing etc still then. So, after lunch we decided to pay our homage to Sharika Mata temple on Hari Parbat on the western part of Dal Lake & at the fringe of Srinagar city .In my other review on Kashmir, I wrote that you should take at least 3 nights to discover all the vistas. There are so many things only in Srinagar city that you need sufficient time to explore them. Srinagar (1730mt), the lake city, the summer capital of the state, is mingled with the vibrant modern city as well as with the tradition. The city is prospered on the river Jhelum; you can distinguish yourself the old structure of the buildings in old city with the modern architecture. The style of the buildings reckons you to the Persian construction style. Apart from panoramic nature, Kashmir’s spirituality has a deep root in its so many shrines of Buddhist era, Hindu era & Islam era which brought a new dimension to the culture & heritage of Kashmir.
The city’s hawk-eye view can be taken from the Koe-e-Maram or the Hari Parbat fort, in the center of the city. Hari Parbat, the most sacred hillock that can be visible from about 25 miles away from the western side of the Srinagar city. Why holy? It is believed that the hill is the abode of Jagat Amba Sharika Bhagwati , also known as Maha Tripurasundari or Rajrajeswari. The 18 armed goddess Sharika is worshiped as presiding deity ( “isht devi) of Srinagar city. Sharika Devi is believed as the incarnation Devi Durga. The goddess is represented by a Swyambhu Srichakra ( Mahamaha Shrichakra) , also called Mahashriyantra which is comprised of mystic impressions & triangular patterns with a dot ( bindu) at the center. There are 108 stone steps to reach the shrine of Devi Sharika . Before entry one has to take permission from the security . The deity is also called Chakreswari. From the devi angan the view of Srinagar city / Dal Lake is amazing.
Temple timing-From 6.00am to 10pm. Tues day is called a special day for all the devotees. With a view to fulfillment of one’s desire pilgrims offer sari &gifts to Mata & there is a rush on .Ashad Navami ( Har Navum) is said to be the birth day of Sharika Bhagwati.

The hari parvat is a hill in front of the dal lake and there is a fort on top which is presently controlled by the army and is not permitted for visitors unless you have a special permission. But you can go to the Sharika devi temple which is half way through either by steps or cable car.

Hari parbat is a hill visible from Dal lake. It looks very beautiful with a Fort on top of it. We went up the hill to see the fort but were not allowed, as it is occupied by the security forces at present.

It is also known as Koh-e-Maran.

Overview:
A beautiful hill with a fortified peak.

Broader View:
This hill dwells a Temple, a Shrine & Mosque, A guruduwara.
It is historically rich; wherein you can enchant your senses spiritually.
The fort at the top was constructed by Mughals and then by Duraanis.

Views of city atop are serene. Spend sometime in the surroundings of the shrine amongst the beautiful Maple trees.

History, Nature, Spirituality! A peaceful combo.

Though entry is restricted, we went to the almond tree garden inside this place, and I found it to be more pleasant and green than the other Mughal Gardens. The Hari par bat itself can be seen from the Lakes and its mystic air is haunting...
