It is the perfect place to absorb the energy of the valley. Was suggested to avoid a visit on fridays by the locals. Its one of my favourite places in Kashmir

Situated right in the middle of the old city , the Jamia mosque stands out against the hustle bustle of the old bazaars by providing a tranquil environment inside . It was built in the 1400 AD by sultan Sikandar under the orders of Mir Mohammad Hamdani , the son of shah hamdaan. Known amongst the most sacred mosques in... More

The mosque lies in the area locally known as downtown. Mosque is big. Surrounding area is always in news because of incidents of stone pelting on Armed forces.

Very different from mosques I've come across anywhere else in the world, with its unique Buddhist design influence hailing from the early Buddhist days of Kashmir. Very calm and peaceful!

The Jamia Masjid is a marvel. 33,333 people can pray at one time and one of the few places where women are permitted.

This was a fascinating experience and for me the first ever trip inside a Jama Masjid. The soaring Deodar pillars were fascinating. The architecture is simple and yet amazing. The sense of space is the overwhelming feeling that you get as you walk around the mosque. A must visit

Huge and beautiful mosque. Did not get to enter inside, as was Friday prayers and very crowded. A beautiful landmark in Srinagar and one not to miss. It was an unforgettable signt observing the city come alive with crowds for Friday prayers, using every possible means of transport.
