This mosque is centrally located in srinagar and is probably the oldest standing mosque in kashmir. The surroundings of this mosque act as center of rebellion against indian forces in kashmir. Many a times people are stopped from offering prayers in thi mosque by indian forces especially on fridays.

The jama masjid is located in the old city of srinagar. We went in our cab when we were doing srinagar sightseeing. Its a great place and if your a history lover you'l love it. Huge domes and all wooden pillars.

A grand structure which is about 700 yrs old. Its interiors are supported by wooden pillars only. It is said that about 30,000-35,000 persons can sit inside & offer namaaz here. If the open area is also included close to 1,00,000 persons can offer prayers here at a time. Inside is very calm & quite.

It is the biggest mosque in Kashmir situated in the down town area of Srinagar. The major attraction is the pillars inside the mosque. The pillars are carved out of deodar trees. For those who are interested in Mughal Islamic architecture, it's a must visit.
