Lake at such a height with beautiful surroundings make it unique otherwise its just a small lake with not so clean water. The view of lake with town as backdrop is very beautiful when taken from the hill top. The whole surrounding with contrasting shades of sky, mountains and lake is surreal.

This lake is in the middle of the village.Nothing much to see can be skipped. No good restaurant only main attraction is small lake with dirty water. Access to this place was ok ,means road was fine .

Situated 100 kms from Kalpa, this is the highest village in the valley and the existence of lake formed out of the masses of the ice and snow above adds beauty to the village. The lake is fringed with willows and populars. There are small, but significant Buddhist temples, a monastery and a rock is regarded to have the imprints of the saint Padmasambhava. the views around, clear lake water and ancient village houses makes this a must visit in this sector.

This lake is situated in nako village...its a man made type of lake/rather pond...not much of beauty...but if you manage to climb up the hill along side the lake till the chorten, yon can find great views of the whole valley...that climb is worth taking...the monastery is also very old, with rare paintings and thankas...

May be its beautiful when its frozen...may be its amazing during snow....but when we were here it was in pathetic shape...there is nothing special about this lake....its dirty....smelling....and littered ...

the only thing i like about this place was stunning views of different kind of moiuntains....Om mani padme hum written stones (pic attached)...and prayer wheels...Said lake was too dirty that i dint click a single photo of this water body....We had our lunch here...with the people of "Himalayn Odyssey riders....it was fun...to share experience...as we dint have anything to do or visit here...

Generally when in Himalayas i always try to communicate with locals...but this place made me so irritated that i dint even care to visit locals...

I ve seen picture of this lake frozen and snow time....it is beautifully....if its frozen it can be must visit....but when its no frozen its dirty and advisable to avoid it...

this is my personal Opinion....Freinds with me also considered it as mistake to visit this palce...

I was here at the Lake this October 2012 with my wife and 2 years old Son....we stayed at Kinnaur Camp Nature camp Tent next to the lake ...We reached there late evening after visiting the Gue Village Mummy at Gue Village. It was chilly and once we were there the camp owner arranged for our TENTS Coffee and bonfire next to the tent......over the sunset the coffee tasted great.
After early dinner we went to sleep..the beds were comfortable and we rested like babies...early morning I hit for the lake.........it was a stone throw distance the path down the it was rocky and sheep were grazing the time I reached there...the lake was clear with the blue sky against the background created perfect optical illusion.
I sat on one rock clicking snaps of the lake on frenzied speed ...the vision was so soothing calm and peaceful it was mesmerizing.

It is a high altitude lake which is located in the Pooh sub-division of district Kinnaur. It is about 3662m above the sea level. This lake is surrounded by willow and poplar trees. It seems that the village is half buried in the lake's border. Near the lake there are four Buddhist temples. Near this place there is a foot like impression ascribed to the saint Padmasambhava.

Nako lake is surrounded by willow and polar trees. There is a small village on the bank of this lake - and the village seems to be half buried by the lake's borders. On the water's northern side, are four Buddhist temples with stucco images and murals. Near Nako is a footprint-like impression ascribed to the saint Padmasambhava. It freezes in winter and people enjoy skating on this lake.Nako Lake is a pilgrim destination for the Buddhists.

Because the Nako Lake is situated at such a great height, there are only a few species of fishes that populate the lake. Anglers coming here with their fishing rods come mainly to while away their time in the beautiful surroundings of the lake. One can observe numerous species of birds and flying overhead at Nako Lake. A perfect place for nature lovers & ornithologists alike, Nako Lake and Nako Monastery is a popular tourist destination in Himachal. Enjoy the atmosphere & obtain blessings as Nako in Kinnaur invites everyone with a welcome smile.

Nako village is 3600 metre above mean sea level. I went with my family, after visiting Nako monatery, sauntered toward the lake.
I was momentarily dumbstruck by the serenity of the place. Not a leaf seemed to move. The clear reflection one could see in it of the surrounding environment told me how much the residents of this place cared about keeping the environment clean.
Want to visit this place again.
