Great place , must visit.
Oct 2021 • Couples
A must visit place if you are in Manali , nature at its best , good roads maintained by brave BRO. check snow fall days to plan a visit , entry permits are required to be taken , warm cloths are available on rent in manali , do carry same , even without snow place is pretty cold.

Brilliant experience to drive to a height of 13000 feet. The drive up to the pass is very exhilarating also. It is a must go to destination!

Scenic but too crowded
Jul 2021
Too crowded.
Dirty.
No Traffic management leading to unnecessary jam.
Never go for a tour with HRTC electric bus. Instead opt for HPTDC for cost saving option and if you are 1-2 people travelling together.

Amazing place, too crowded.

Journey from Manali to Rohtang was amazing. too much commercialization ( drivers will have designated shops for getting warm cloth on rent, people will try to scare you so much about otherwise a wonderful trekking that you are forced to take a Horse Ride). Do not take a horse ride and trek yourself to the top of Rohtang. It not so cold during July though there was enough snow to have fun. Go further towards Solang valley through Atal Tunnel and enjoy waterfalls, Riva riverside walk, camp at waterfall side... Solang valley is great for snow activities. You should not miss paragliding just before Rohtang. on the way to Rohtang from Manali, you may stop at Nehru Kund and collect fresh water as well.

Trip across Himachal with Golu
Nov 2020 • Family
We were a group of 4 adults and a child of 6 months who traveled across Himachal in the month of October 2020. Our itinerary was the following:

We started from Chandigarh airport, traveled to Sundarnagar, HP on day 1. Stay at Polo Regency Sundarnagar (decent for nightly stay).

Day 2, we reached Kasol from Sundarnagar. Traveled around Kasol, visited Tosh Village (recommended) . 2 nights stay at Parvati Kuteer (recommended).

Day 4, we traveled to Manali from Kasol. En route visited Naggar (avoidable in my experience). From Manali we travelled to Rohatng Pass (depends on weather, was alright for us - no snow ) ,sissu (must do), local sightseeing (ok)and Mall Road. 5 nights stay at WelcomeHeritage Urvashi’s Retreat ( Top place for longer stay ).

Day 9, left Manali for Bir. Paragliding next morning before leaving for McLeodgunj. Stay at Bir High ( again decent for one night, recommended for service and convenient location).

Day 10, arrived at McleodGunj for 2 nights. The main Tibetan Monastery and the Cricket Stadium at Dharamshala was closed for COVID but traveled some other spots nearby. The town center was really upbeat and offers a nice stroll with good shopping options. Stay at Golden Rock Hotel ( meh place, inconvenient location but good service).

Day 12, arrived at Dalhousie. Visited Kalatop widlife sanctuary ( no wildlife for us other than a couple of cows), Khajjiar Valley, Chamera Lake and local Mall Road. Stay at Grand View Hotel for 4 nights ( top place, amazing food/vibe at restaurant).

Day 16, left HP and reached Amritsar. Various food stops here ( lip smacking food all across ASR), and one evening at the Golden temple under the full moon. Was a bit concerned about the Crowd at Golden Temple but was a good experience, all thing’s considered. Stay at Amritsar Grand Hotel for 2 nights before leaving for BLR on day 18. (Decent place to stay)

We hired Golu-ji for driving us through HP and had an excellent experience with him. Golu-ji drove us in an Innova but he has other vehicles to drive groups of different sizes too. He has a dezire for smaller groups, and a Tempo Traveller for larger groups as well. He is a very well experienced driver with driving experience of 13+years across HP, and he told his primary specialization is the Kinnaur Spiti Valley route. But beyond that, he is committed to providing a very nice and relaxing experience for his clients as well. He is calm friendly and nice, and treats everyone with utmost respect and care, goes out of his way for clients’ comfort. We tried to reach every place in time as we had a baby with us, but even when we were a bit late he never made us feel any contempt from his side. He even offered to watch the baby if he was sleeping in the car when we were at a spot. He waited for us patiently while we dined/flew our drone/took photo stops/ shopped. Overall great experience with Golu-ji and recommend him overwhelmingly especially if you are traveling with family or kids. His contact number is 98163 78229/ 98166 98488.

Scenic drive. Great view. Snow capped mountains. Highest motorable road.
Nov 2020
We traveled to Rohtang Pass in November. It is one of the most scenic drives in India. It is one of the highest motorable pass of the world. We did a road-trip from Manali.

We started at 11 am because this is during unlock five and Manali did not have many tourists. We needed a permit to visit Rohtang Pass. Golu, our amazing driver for the tour, (9805575680) had secured a permit for us the night before. I recommend him for your Himachal trip as a reliable driver. We were a group of 4 adults and a 6 month old baby and we felt safe with Golu all the while in Himachal (20 days).

We had a smooth drive with his innova. It took us 2 hours to reach to the top. We stopped for a while. It was windy. There was snow capped mountains at a distance. beautiful Bias Kund was located at the start of the Rohtang La. It was a clear sky day and the sprawling land down there had great visibility!

Start early to have great lighting if you like photography. Wear enough woolen clothes. It is freezing on the top. Rohtang la is beautiful even when there is no snow by the side of the road.

The journey ..towards the snow-clad mountains ..that we could get a glimpse from Manali .. is very curious as we climb higher and near them. Once we reach, we stand amidst breathtaking snow-clad mountains all around. We can enjoy there as we play and try to climb pver the the ice .. slip and fall ! Here we enjoy like a child even as we fall !! The main purpose of tours & travels is that they could provide the ambience for the mind to get silenced.. effortlessly and bliss is experienced.... and this place is one such that provides that aplenty.

A must visit day trip from Manali
Oct 2019
One of the main high pass attractions from Manali , Needs to be planned a day before and needs to be planned to leave early so that maximum time can be spare on the top and comeback well before afternoon. On the way to top there is beautiful views of surrounding and different views depending on the time you are planning there. Snowfall is added advantage if you are too lucky and you can feel it even before reaching there . Specifically when monsoon ends and winter starting and there is chance of very dense cloudy weather on the top , snowfall can be expected. Needs to be careful about movements as obviously oxygen level will be less there. Local taxi needs to hired to reach there .

Highlight of manali
Jul 2019 • Friends
I have never been to this place specially. But have crossed it always while my spiti or ladakh ride. It's a great place for people who can't go beyond this pass. Covered with snow during most the time. But I feel people have polluted this place alot. With cars parked every, litter around the pass I feel bad. I just stop here for a quick photo with the board and leave.

A perfect day tour from Manali , HP
Oct 2019
Rotang Pass is one of the most spectacular high point reachable by car from Manali, Roads are quite bumpy but there are amazing views on the way to top and environmental greenery transition can be easily noticed. It is also one of the gateway to Leh, Lahul Spiti & Pangi Valley from Manali.

We Visited Manali around Mid of Oct 2019 and we experienced a heavy snowfall at Rotang pass though it was also very exciting to see from lower point snowfall and ride thorugh it .

It should be a must visit place whenever you plan for Manali keeping in mind the current road condition during opening and closing period late May to early Nov.
