This is a textile treasure trove- but note you must email in advance for 1 of 20 tickets given for each daily tour. Cell phones, camera & tote bags are not allowed- so you leave them with your driver or take your chances with leaving them with the guard. Not handicap accessible. You'll remove your shoes for most of the... More

This is a remarkable experience. It is also a privilege to see such a range of precious textiles. You need to be organised and book a place on a guided tour. You are taken through 40 rooms at a pace by a wonderfully passionate guide who is uncompromising in her descriptions of the textiles. The textiles are old and precious... More

This museum offers different tours, each worthwhile. Beautiful pieces with informative guide set in a traditional house with beautiful gardens.

A must see for all lovers of textiles, with many examples of historical costumes and fabrics. Various methods of embroidery and dying were showcased.

Love this place! Even though it is run in a military style manner, and difficult to make a bookib. yes! You need to book to enjoy the experience! The museum attracts textile afficionadoes from around the world. a couple of delightfully snooty women fron New Yorks Museum of Modern Art did the tour on the same day as we did.... More

Entrance to the Calico Museum is free. The Museum can be seen only thru the two conducted tours it conducts at 10:30 am and 3 pm. Each tour is limited to 30 people. You need an appointment to join these tours. The subject content of the morning and afternoon tours is different. The morning tour is about textiles of India.... More

The quality of the textiles surpassed my greatest expectations. My only complaint is the speed that one is conducted throughnthemcollection, with no,time,to,appreciate the beauty of the objects

We stopped by after seeing good ratings, but to surprise at the gates were asked that one has to pre book a tour. The guard was freaked out at seeing children with us. Said, no children under 10 allowed. Now that was a first in all out museum tours, what a shame on them! Second, were asked to call a... More

This museum is definitely well worth a visit but be forewarned you must make reservations at least two days ahead of time and security is tight.

For textile enthusiasts this museum is a must. Be forewarned that you can take NOTHING except the clothes you are wearing into the complex. No cell phone in the pocket, no purse, no back pack. Apart from that inconvenience, and the need to make a reservation for the daily tour (10:30) for part 1, this is great place to visit.... More
