Had a full day private tour of south Goa and it included Bigfoot. I think the good intentions are wonderful but to be honest, it’s just plain strange. I suppose if you knew nothing about Goa or India or village life, it could be educational.

This is the ancestral GOA village model. It is okay for people who have never seen any Indian village. Even now many of the things do happen in the Indian villages. It is a okay place to visit.
Ticket cost : rs 50
I found the Magic lamp very interesting. I got one and I am happy about it. Check it out.
Cost : Rs 50 onwards..

Wonder why it has been criticized so much.It is actually a fun place to be in.It has lots of floats showing what village life in Goa was like in the beginning of the century. It has a fishermen's village, a village cobbler, the village squires house, the village toddy shop and a host of such things about which the sound system relays a commentary as you walk by.
It may sound banal but it is fun particularly if you are in a group and though there were only two of us yet we enjoyed it a lot.
It also has a big foot temple which actually gives the village its name.It is dedicated to a man who prayed there and stood on one foot with the rock heating up like anything till the Lord took him to heaven. This is locally supposed to be the spot where all prayers are answered and you find everyone bowing down and asking for blessings.
The place also has the countries largest laterite stone sculpture , Mirabai, which is carved from a single stone, which by itself is enough to make the place worth a visit.
Across the road is the Casa Alvarez, the home of an advocate of the Portugese times preserved in fairly good condition showcasing life as it was then.the guides here are slightly off key but the palce is worth a stroll through.
Lutelim is located just off Margao and no visit to south Goa can be complete without visiting this attraction.

Although the website listed the entry fee as 20 rupees, the unpleasant woman at the ticket counter asked for 150 rupees a piece for myself and my 12-year old daughter who usually attracts no charge at museums and other cultural attractions. Pressed, she snapped that the price included something across the road that we hadn't asked about. We eventually, and a bit reluctantly given the hostile greeting, got tickets for 50 rupees a piece and stepped thru a turnstile into a tired and grubby waiting area. The six people behind us balked at the price and left, leaving us to proceed with a guide to walk us by a series of concrete statues with signs like Gram Seller, Bangle Seller, which the guides read out to us....The path led, not surprisingly, overpriced trinkets.
Only one guide was a stand out, going beyond the obvious, to explain the social role of the hairdresser as a matchmaker.
The concrete `sacred' Big Foot print was laughable. We ignored the offer to buy an incense stick for 5 or 10 rupees and glanced at the other overpriced stuff behind a counter.
The bird habitat was a series of cages, some with and some without birds.
The so-called Art Gallery was just absurd. Again, just another shop full of trinkets with inflated price tags.
My 12-year old summed it up as we left: `What a tourist trap.'
A shame, really. It could be much more.

This place didnt make me jump, so to say. The area is dirty and the displays just tells what you can read in any tourist brochure. Even the guides here seem to talk on autopilot, and during the visit you get literally pushed into a souvenir shop (as all over India, which is annoying).
Some of the displays/models are ok and interesting, showing local culture and history, but the site itself is bad in general. Needs some improvement!

While people percieve goa's beaches as destination, one can surely have a countryside religious tour. Big foot meuseum situated in South Goa, is a place to visit for such a purpose. And It is a temple of a person Mahader, whose imprint is in form of Big foot on a rock. He was so generous and wise throughout his life. At his last stage, he was praying on his one foot and Lord Vishnu got pleased with him. So at his time of death, he had been blessed. People visit the place to pray to him for fulfilment of their wishes.
Besides the temple, the place boasts of the largest monolithic statue of Mirabai, a mini zoo and last not the least a wide variety of herbal plants. You can also buy Goa handicrafts at the souvenier shop .

We had been to Goa recently, stayed at Sukh sagar beach resort at Colva beach the beach itself is fantasctic.
The best way to see goa is The Goa tourisum Bus,, thorugh which we visited both North and south Goa,
Ancestral Goa is a part of South Goa tour, best and very facinating. the big foor its story,..are mind blowing...
In ancestral Goa we loved the each and every part of it where they have created huge human like scupltures describing the list of goa, how they lived how they wash clothes coook their favroite work to make feeny..how fenny is exacttly made. the hating making process..fishing...making nets tents...
evry bit of it was too good to learn, mostly for people who have been born and brought up in cities where village life doesnot exits at all, our kids would love and also learn a lot..
Then the protugees house and lifestyle which is also a part of Ancestral GOA. that too was great a typical village House mintained by one of the Great Great Gradson of the then time portugues. This house is mainted and dispalyed by him as he wants people to know where and how portugeus lived..
of 16 house only one is maintained and displayed...the bedroom the florring children room of then time...etc...
In alll GOA is better know when u visit ANCESTRAL GOA, which gives actual and exact picture of GOA

A heritage building of the Portuguese era, located beside the Big Foot Museum, which showcases the lifestyle of the colonists. It is a guided tour around the house with beautiful furniture and colonial antiques. It's a good place to learn about Goan culture and social history. The only drawback is its distant location away from Margao.
