This small zoo, located in Alamogordo, NM, is a beautiful place to cool off during the summer and visit the animals. We had stayed in Hay Canyon in the Sacramento Mtns. one summer. A small hungry bear came wandering around our cabins. It already one strike against it having been moved to Sun Spot and tagged. Reporting it was like... More

This has a historical background and has some great staff. There is a wide variety of animals and they have very large enclosures that are well maintained for each type of animal.. And a huge play area for children.

It's hard to find fault with a small-town zoo that has been in operation since 1898. There are a limited number of animals in what look to be adequate spaces, but the real attraction seems to be the low price, shade, grass, and playground. We've noticed that the zoo is always populated by families with lots of kids playing. And... More

This zoo is better than many I've visited in cities much larger than Alamogordo. The great variety of animals, many of which are in "up close" enclosures, makes for an always enjoyable and educational visit. The zoo has done an excellent job of building new exhibits. There is a small playground for children who need a break from walking.

Alamogordo is a very historic town. It is on the edge of Holloman AFB. This is a training facility that in the past has been used to train space travelers (Chimps). Is sits on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert -- the largest desert in North America covering more than 200,000 square miles -- Most of it lies south of... More

Here you can enjoy seeing all the rescued animals that they have saved due to injuries caused by either nature or humans. Eagles Hawks, etc... It is a really nice place for the entire family to spend a few hours at.

Enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon at this lovely zoo. Definitely worth the small fee that they charge. The boys loved the playground. Shady with benches. Can get very close to animals which is nice. Small gift shop with very reasonably priced snacks and treats.

We went on a weekday in the early afternoon and it was sad to see so few people here. They have a nice selection of species including many kinds of water fowl including ducks from various regions, reptiles such as turtles and an alligator, a capybara, otter, bear, leopards, coyote, coati mundi, kangaroos, deer and wolves. The wolves are a... More

This is really a nice zoo! It's laid out as a nice walk. The animals are interesting. You can expect to spend an hour and a half here and I really enjoyed it!!

We stopped at the Alameda Park Zoo to pass some time before heading out to White Sands National Monument. It only cost $2.50 per person to get in, and it was well worth the price. The zoo offered a very diverse group of animals, including the Mexican Gray Wolf. We spent a little over an hour here and found it... More
