This zoo is better than many I've visited in cities much larger than Alamogordo. The great variety of animals, many of which are in "up close" enclosures, makes for an always enjoyable and educational visit. The zoo has done an excellent job of building new exhibits. There is a small playground for children who need a break from walking.

Alamogordo is a very historic town. It is on the edge of Holloman AFB. This is a training facility that in the past has been used to train space travelers (Chimps). Is sits on the edge of the Chihuahuan Desert -- the largest desert in North America covering more than 200,000 square miles -- Most of it lies south of... More

Here you can enjoy seeing all the rescued animals that they have saved due to injuries caused by either nature or humans. Eagles Hawks, etc... It is a really nice place for the entire family to spend a few hours at.

Enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon at this lovely zoo. Definitely worth the small fee that they charge. The boys loved the playground. Shady with benches. Can get very close to animals which is nice. Small gift shop with very reasonably priced snacks and treats.

We went on a weekday in the early afternoon and it was sad to see so few people here. They have a nice selection of species including many kinds of water fowl including ducks from various regions, reptiles such as turtles and an alligator, a capybara, otter, bear, leopards, coyote, coati mundi, kangaroos, deer and wolves. The wolves are a... More

This is really a nice zoo! It's laid out as a nice walk. The animals are interesting. You can expect to spend an hour and a half here and I really enjoyed it!!

We stopped at the Alameda Park Zoo to pass some time before heading out to White Sands National Monument. It only cost $2.50 per person to get in, and it was well worth the price. The zoo offered a very diverse group of animals, including the Mexican Gray Wolf. We spent a little over an hour here and found it... More

We were in the area and decided to visit this zoo. The zoo appeared to be in a remodeling phase but they did not tell you about this when you entered. The zoo was clean and but is in desperate need of the remodeling and updating.

I haven't been to this zoo for years, I have been wanting to visit for a long time. Finally got to get away and I'm so happy this little place is still here and doing more and more for animals. Great place to spend an afternoon! I love how the lady at the front desk refered to the animal like... More

Pleasant zoo in a small town. Some construction being done, but the animals don't seem to mind. $2.50 for adults $1.50 for kids. They have bald eagles, monkeys, gators, wolves, a bear, a cougar and more! Nice way to spend a couple of hours. If you have small kids be sure to spend time at the great park and ride... More
