When we arrived we were told the toy train (inside) portion of the museum was closed. We had no advance notice of this closure (wasn't posted on social media). This was very disappointing since we drove 2 hours out of the way to visit this attraction. There was no specific reason for the closure of the inside of the museum.... More

We never left Alamogordo without riding the train around Alameda Park when my children were little. Despite the fact that they are teenagers now, they still enjoy the ride. For us, it's a must and a walk down memory lane.

I have zero interest in trains. My husband loves them. So the adult males in our party and my son went here while we went to the pistachio farm. We were to meet up here before driving to carlsbad. When we got here everyone was seated inside the mini train they have here yelling for us to buy tix and... More

The train displays themselves were dated and disappointing. The train we rode outside was great fun though.

Grandsons wanted to ride the train. They enjoyed it. Museum was a little dated but the older couple running it was very friendly and the gentleman running the trains was very knowledgeable about the models. Would recommend a picnic lunch in the park and then a visit to the museum and train.

We took our son because he's been obsessed with trains and he loved it! The train ride was great and the museum was very interesting. I wish the place and gift shop was bigger but I can't really complain for the price. Hopefully in the future they come up with something to get the kids involved. I know their equipment... More

This little depot takes you for a nice ride through a park in open cars. Make sure to visit the model trains inside the depot; you will find all the different gauges with wonderful layouts.

This was a must stop for us. My husband and our grandchildren all love toy trains and the Toy Train Depot will not disappoint you. The nice gentleman who was the curator of the Depot has a true and deep love of trains...big or small and he can tell you story after story and loves to do so. A kid... More
