We went to see open hand monument in the evening at the time of sunset. An army man took our information for the purpose of visit. He noted down in his entry register the time of visit with our Identity proof and allow us only for 15 mins to have a look. We clicked pictures and observe the iron structure. We also got chance to see peacocks there.

The open hand monument the official symbol of Chandigarh. Built in tin the hand moves in the direction of wind. There is an small amphitheatre under the structure..The Open hand Structure is inside the capitol complex which is included in the guided tour of Capitol Complex.

This place was closed to visitors for the longest time due to High Security of the High Court and was opened last year for regular visitors. This is the starting point of the City of Chandigarh.

This place is far off and not even a single soul around it. There is only a soldier posted and you cannot go near the monument. It is a complete waste of time incase you looking at 'attraction'.

There is nothing to enjoy about visiting this place that has the symbol of Chandigarh -open hand in the form of a statue. isolated, hardly visited, dont spend your time if you are hard up with time. good for taking pics as a token of remembrance

Don't just deliberately take out time to visit this place in case you are a visitor from outside Chandigarh because there a lot more worth places to see if one is running out of time in CHD. A may suggest a good place for just photos sake as this is the Symbol of City Beautifull. However, you may find the similar symbol in small size at Sukna Lake, Chandigarh which is worth visiting.

It is an interesting and motivational monument. The message is really informative for humanity. We enjoyed taking pictures and talking to other visitors. Worth your time to visit.

Rising 85 feet high from a sunken trench, a giant hand in metal sheets is designed to rotate "like a weather cock, not to show the incertitude of ideas, but to indicate symbolically the direction of wind (that is the state of affairs)." It is also meant to convey a message of peace "open to receive."

It's simple and beautiful! The city so renowned for its systematic and planned development and infrastructure has so much more to share! The monument is only one example of the beautification ideology and hopefully my city (Mumbai) could emulate something or draw inspiration from here.

For all the fuss they made over passes to enter the complex, and all the things I had heard about it (not much to be honest), its like just a large concrete hand.

Not too large, not at all life like and not too pretty in even a kitschy way. Just a large concrete hand stained with water, mounted on a black featureless metal column, and standing in a dried up pool.

If you missed it, you didn't miss much.
