Definitely worth a visit when you go to the High Court building and the Capital Complex, which unfortunately was closed.

We went to see open hand monument in the evening at the time of sunset. An army man took our information for the purpose of visit. He noted down in his entry register the time of visit with our Identity proof and allow us only for 15 mins to have a look. We clicked pictures and observe the iron structure. We also got chance to see peacocks there.

Chandigarh does keep on surprising you by such hidden gems. I would not have expected beautiful architecture delights in this laid back city but there it was. It's very clean and beautiful. These monuments make me feel that Chandigarh was just out of time when it was being built.

Now I get it!

I'll be honest, I wasn't keen on this monument until I got up close and it was clear to see what it was and what it represents. Yet again Corbusier came up with an idea that he then turned into something striking and thought-provoking. Chandigarh is full of such of wonders.

Could not get there - guided tours only. Disappointing
Mar 2019 • Family
Having researched on youtube, I decided that walking round this place was one of two things I wanted to do in Chandigarh. Sadly when we got as close as we could by tuk tuk, the security would not let us through and we were told the only way to see it is by organised tour, at a time in the day we had already missed.

I will not be going to Chandigarh again. Disappointed!

The 25 mt monument is beautiful and it was a surprise to realise that it rotates like a weather vane. A lovely example of Le Corbusier's imagination and creativity.

The hallmark of Chandigarh

Went for a guided walk around the Capitol Complex and to me, the Open Hand monument was one of the highlights of the tour. It is built as part of an amphitheater whose acoustics indicate the degree of planning Corbusier did. The Open Hand itself stands on a metal rod and it moves due to ball-bearings inserted in the rod. Apparently, even 5 decades after it was built, the original ball-bearings still remain in place.

Symbol of Government of Chandigarh that represents deep meaning
Jan 2019 • Friends
When i was small i wonder what the hell is this open hand Symbol doing in chandigarh.
When i grown up old, i ask my elder brother what it is? He politely replied "fool its a symbol of you this city".
Then i came home and search about it Microsoft bing app.
That day i came to realise the deep meaning of this symbol. Open hand denotes "the hand to give and the hand to take; peace and prosperity, and the unity of mankind". It was
Designed by the architect Le Corbusier.
