This is one of modern museum buildings in India, architecture and the quality of construction are excellent—a rear thing in India. Only a few galleries are open. I understand collection is being shifted from the old Patna Museum to this building. Visit has to start with a short film on the museum itself. Though still being populated; its has many priceless collections pictures of which are attached to this review. It is locate in the heart of Patna, capital of Bihar state. A must visit place. Only drawback is that they do not have guides or audio guides.

Text: One of the best place to visit in Patna. All the heritage items are well organised and place is neat and clean. One minus point is very few items in the canteen and need to be improved.

I recently visited Bihar Museum over a week-end during my visit to Patna. I am very impressed with the way Bihar Museum has been created and maintained. It has exceeded my expectations!
The entry fee is Rs.100 for adult Indian citizen. It is spacious and centrally air-conditioned. The museum displays Bihar's culture from ancient time till date. One must visit this museum while in Patna. It is worth visiting. It takes around 2-4 hours to go through all rooms/halls in the museum.

We visited the Bihar Museum in February and were delighted to see a truly world-class site in Patna dedicated to conveying the story of Bihar. The building was absolutely phenomenal. The exhibit rooms are, safe to say, still being filled and properly curated. There is clearly a tremendous amount to tell about Bihar. The initial room provided an excellent timeline of Bihar, with exhibits. The larger exhibit rooms, however, are under-filled, and not properly/completely lighted. In the smaller exhibits about diaspora, sometimes consist of just posterboards with pictures and text. A good start but sustained and comprehensive investment and curation will keep the museum on an upward trajectory.
The childrens section is delightful and worth taking the kids to. The movie in the exceptional theater room is slick and very well-done. I look forward to coming back to see more. It's a real asset to Patna, and more generally, Bihar.

When you see the ticket price of â‚ą100 it seems a bit on the higher side. But, when you enter the museum, it seems worth it. This place is still under construction and it will surely become one of the best attractions of Patna when it is completed.
There is an auditorium where you can get to watch a small documentary on all the stuff kept in the museum and some history of Bihar.
Overall, once done, this will become a must see attraction at Patna.

Built by Maki & Associates, this is one of its kind modern day museum in the city of Patna. It has different galleries associated with various timelines and also a children's gallery area. It also houses Didarganj Yakshi, one of the treasured artifacts from Mauryan times, apart from innumerable statues of ancient as well as medieval era. The gallery on Bihari diaspora called Girmitiya is good as well as folk art gallery. There is usually some art or cultural event going on in the museum.
