Went to this trip on 16th August 2024 with my wife
1. while booking it was showing 36seater bus, when we went there it was a 18seater bus with very dirty condition, 2.the bus driver was veryhard in driving we all were scared 😱 of his riding,
3. They gave breakfast which was ok ok .
4. We paid 1500rs for each seat total was something around 3180rs for we 2,
In website while booking it was mentioned all are included,
But in bus they collected 240rs for from us saying its a entry fees at tribal museum, and for botanical gardan,
I dont know we paid more than 3k and still they are asking money total almost 4k was spend over there.
5. Lunch they placed at their hotel it was veg offering again it was ok ok.
6. Bcz of rider skills we met with an accident, there they wasted 30min.
7. Return snacks wss below average,
8. its not at all worth just waste of money....
9. Just plan some other way to go araku dont ever try to book ap tourism.
10. The spot where they stop its not at worth, nothing to feel wow, if we could book private cab etc then we had chance to explore which we miss.
11. Just the guide was funny his name was (seenu) thats the only good part.

Again dont waste your hard earned money in this worst service

Had heard a lot about Araku for many decades and planned a visit to this place from Vizag. Was a disappointing experience, except the marvel of Burra Caves which is a natural wonder but with low maintenance inside and zero vigilance, this beauty which must have taken a million years to form may lose its glory in decades! The train journey up is a bit picturesque but the journey back took almost 6 hours for 137 kms and even in a Vistadome, one can feel restless with the slow crawl of the train as it has to keep giving way to goods train on the single track for 75% of the distance. Araku itself was massively disappointing with nothing there to write home about and all the tourist fixtures like the tribal museum, gaalikonda (wind mountain), the garden, the waterfall, etc being something like kids stuff. If you still want to visit on a budget, it is better to go in the morning and take the non AC second sitting in the morning 0650 train. It hardly costs anything but the coach was better than a AC coach and also you can see all the curves, valley and tunnels without any hindrance. Better to get down at Burra guhalu station (30 kms and an hour before Araku) and maybe spend time and take the evening train back from there. One can just go walking to Burra Caves from the station and completely avoid all the car and auto racket at the station (550 rupees per person in auto for 5 people sharing -2750 for 5) or engage a sharing cab (1500 rupees for 2 people) or 2000 rupees for own cab to see Burra Caves and the tourist spots at Araku. Alternatively, take the IRTDC tour or the APTDC tour, which seem to be better organized. The tourism infra at this place is lousy and there do not seem to be proper places to stay or see or have decent food. The entry tickets in most places are Rs.50 but have zero value.

Rail cum Road package of AP Tourism is horrible. They put tourists in general unreserved rail compartment from Vizag to Araku. Badly treated. Never recommend AP tourism.

Beautiful flower gardens, vallies, heavy fog, pleasent waterfalls greenery, very tasty chicken called bongu chicken at reasonable price and will get tasty coffee.
The culture of tribes and muesiem with all tribal life with highly safe methods.
If any individual, visitor goes to vishakapatnam must visit the location.

Very pathetic facilities and upkeep at this tourist destination. No good hotels, restaurants, coffee shops. Whatever are available, they are very basic, dirty and APTDC hotel staff is miserably impolite, untrained and in dirty attire. Equally bad is Vistadom. Bottom line is for the poor upkeep of this place, both State & Central Government are responsible

Not as great as I hoped it would be and definitely not recommend to visit in Summer and even in Feb. Very hot like Vizag.
There is not much to do in Araku valley. I wish the tourism is gonna get developed in such a way that any tourist will have the time of their lives by staying for a vacation because right now it's not that great.
It's too bad I expected more.
It just looks like a generic town with just 4 main sight seeing places.

Araku is famous for coffee plantation & bamboo chicken. In my opinion October to February is the best time to visit araku. Plz bargain with auto wala & hotel. I like tribal village museum there. Best place to go.

If u hv seen the Nilgiris then u knw wat to expect. But if u hv never been to that side of the world, the journey from Vizag to Araku is simply out of the world. A few pointers for the 1st timers. Make sure you book the tickets in Executive coach at least 4 months in advance. The demand is unimaginable and u will knw y once u experience it. There is only one vistadome coach. The train journey is amazing and the train slows down quite a bit so u cn enjoy every moment of it. So it wud b worth ur while to plan a nyt stay at Araku especially if u r a 1st time visitor.

Araku valley is at a distance of about 120 kms from Visakhapatnam. 3hrs drive. The drive is beautiful. After about an hour its all ghat road. Lots of twists and turns. And a lots of monkeys on the road. Be careful with that. On the way there 2-3 beautiful valley view points. Nice points for a quick stop over and a few pics. You will cross the Ananthgiri coffee plantation. Also if time you can a have a few small diversions for waterfalls. All the points a very weel marked. So you wont miss any. Araku valley os positioned as a hill station. Its a very small place. Just has a small valley. But its very calm and peaceful. The morning view of the valley with fog covered makes it a pleasant view. There is not much to see. The tribal museum is good to spend some time. Just an exhibition to showcase the tribal life. A coffee museum is a safe skip. However it does serve very good coffee. In Araku the must try dish is Bamboo Chicken. A chicken dish prepared in bamboo staff without using oil. Its good to taste. Overall a neat visit.

Araku Valley is a hilly area in Vishakhapatnam. Small hill and cool weather to give a relief from sunny bright weather. But truly not so great as the options available in North India are much better. Also very difficult for vegetarians to survive as people love non veg in this area. Not a single veg restaurant available
