The museum is in Public Gardens. You need to pay 10 INR to get entry. Photography charges are 50 INR. The main attraction in this museum is Egyptian Mummy. There are three separate buildings for this museum. I have seen this museum in 2 hours.

This is a nice little museum in a beautiful park. It is housed in an old building that the Nizam built as a playhouse for his children in 1913. The house is pretty in an indian style and contains a number of interesting wings of ancient sculpture as well as other displays. The museum needs updating and the toilets are gross. The park itself - which may be the botanical park is nice for strolling in and has a number of features such as a small lake and old cast iron gazebos.

It is good museum . This is in the premises of Public gardens,Hyderabad.
Entrance fee is only 10 and Camera fee is 20.
Camera not much useful inside the museum due to dull lighting.
Museum has different departments such as paintings, ancient scriptures on rocks, statues of Buddha, rock sculptures, many cannons - of different sizes, etc
Main attraction is Egypt Mummy of a 18 year old girl.
There are only 6 mummies in whole India.
Visiting museum would be educational and interesting for history lovers.

AP State museum is right on the main road inside the Public Gardens.
When I visited it's maintenance was poor.
The main attraction there is the mummy of a teen age girl brought from Egypt. But it's all covered except for one hand exposed to the out side. It too looked like a dried frog. They say that it is not being maintained well and it is fast disintegrating. Still it is worth seeing as I am told that there are only two mummies in the entire India, one in Kolkatta and one in Hyderabad.
There were some huge paintings of Nizam period in the upper floor.

The A P State Museum is located inside the prominent Public Gardens next to the Hyderabad Rly station & is easy to reach. This museum is the oldest & finest one for preserving the states heritage, history & culture & was set up in 1930.The building itself is a beauty of architecture embodying a distinct Sarcenic style.
As we entered inside, we saw well structured chambers & galleries consisting of different phases of the states history & culture from the 2nd & 3rd centuries Buddhist to Chalakya ,Kakatiya & Nizam`s times. There are exquisite collection of rare arts, manuscripts, bronze works & antiquities all very priceless including the fascimile of the Ajanta frescoes paintings. Also a mummy in a cask brought from Egypt & a copy of Quran page with the seal of the Moghul emperor Shah Jahan.
The Museum is basically very research oriented & has published special publications about its varied collections.Worth the visit.

Well i made a short trip to this place, Was not able to see all the things. But i like it.
Arrangements of the item and details on them are well placed.
Its a good place for the people who loves history and if they want some more details about it.
Only problem is the reach-ability, as this is a little bit far from the main residential area.

Its located beside the Assembly in the Public Grounds compound. Its much smaller than the Salar Jung Museum but its still worth a visit.
It has got some good archaeological exhibits, a collection of cannons and cannon balls, a separate section about Buddhist heritage in AP, some ancient scripts, lots of paintings and sculptures. There is also a remade ancient rath (chariot) excavated from the banks of a river. Plus there is a small Egyptian room containing a mummy, one of a handful in India.
I think its closed on Fridays

The AP State Museum is located within the Public Gardens. The museum traces the history of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh regions. The museum is not too well maintained and the caretakers did not seem to be too interested in assisting the visitors.
The main attraction of the museum is the Egyptian Mummy. One can also see the chariots and cannons kept in the open. The Ajanta Paintings gallery, featuring recreations of the famous Ajanta cave paintings, is quite good. However, the Buddhist and Jain galleries were rather underwhelming and could do with a facelift.
Drinking water was only available at one location and toilets were missing. This museum needs a facelift badly to attract tourists.

The main attraction of the museum is a mummy - one of the only 6 around the world. The next main attraction is the outdoor cannons section. A little more information about the history of cannons would have helped a lot, given the amazing collection that they do have.
If you are in the Public Gardens area, this is a must visit.
Do brush up on History before you go and you will enjoy the place a lot more.

Is it possible to keep luggage in the museum!
Written August 27, 2018
how much time will it take? and is it as worthy as salar jung musuem?
Written February 22, 2017
It will take 2hrs to get a decent view of important displays. I would not like to miss the section related to Buddhism. The entire display is A professional job by the ASI. One has to admit that it is least frequented Museum but that is a shame. It is a treasure house for us to see. There is peace & tranquillity in the atmosphere as compared to Salar Jung Museum as you mention.
After this one is likely to find Lepakshi - a handicrafts emporium close by.
