Purani Haveli, is the Nizams forgotten residence, which has been partly converted into a a school and a small portion of the property is converted into a very interesting museum. Not usually known to / visited by many, I would definitely say it was better than the bigger museum in Hyderabad. It houses the worlds largest wardrobe and has a functional elevator which used to be pulled manually in the earlier days. Some very interesting gifts and antiques belonging to the Nizam on display. The best part is that photography is allowed.! (though the " camera fee" seems to be a bit steep). A small but nice museum where one can actually enjoy seeing the stuff on display peacefully. To reach the place one needs to pass through a narrow street, but there is ample car parking in the museum compound.

Its a small museum with Nizam's royal collections.
The large collection of silver models are really good. Another attraction is the hand operated lift.
The real let down is the way things are presented. Poorly lit up and congested. Considering its size and collection the entry fee higher.

Many people don't know about this attraction. Now its a kind of museum. Not so crowded. Most important thing is Photography is allowed here (You need a separate ticket for camera). However many amazing things are here which you may not ever seen in your life. In my opinion you must visit once in this place if you don't like too much crowded museum and queues.

Badly maintained by the trust but a must visit museum in Hyderabad. Photography is allowed on payment of Rs.150. Do not hire any touts hanging around as guide because they know little about the exhibits and spin a tall yarn. Exhibits are well described. A highlight of the museum is the Nizam's wardrobe which is supposed to be one of the biggest in the world!

Very very poor experience. I found this place so so boring that i feel it is a total waste of time & money. As name suggests it is actually old building (purani haveli), which is also the part of a school premises and houses a museum. The museum has some antique stuff of silver & (so called) gold (difficult to believe though, as it does not appear to be gold to be at least). If you take a tourist guide, he / she will simply try to make you feel excited before going to this place by saying that there are diamond, gold & silver antiques inside; but frankly, the stuff inside is not at all exciting. There is only one small piece of diamond inside which my have been kept for formality purpose.

The museum is housed in a dilapitated old Palace that is mostly a High School. Almost no one on site speaks English and the staff were a mix of friendly and extremely rude. The day I visited the electricity was out (which may be a day like any other) and so you could not see much of what was on display - which is mainly silver boxes. I bought a ticket which allowed me to take pictures but it seemed that each time I did try to take a picture I was very rudely yelled at. The guard on the front gate was the most belligerent of all. Didn't see anything really interesting except the building itself. The Nizam's vast closet is kind of an interesting curiosity. The city museum is also housed there. As I entered the person on duty shouted "you can't come in here with a camera because you can't take pictures". I did anyway after assuring him I wouldn't and beleive me there was nothing to waste your camera memory on. Left feeling quite abused -no manager on site. I would not recommend this site.

Purani Haveli is located behind the Salarjung Museum in the old city, The only attraction there is the longest wardrobe. It's like a quadrangle with two levels. Original clothes of the Nizam period are on the display hanged in the wardrobe.
