Neighborhood: Tolichowki
Tolichowki – a modern day major residential suburb of Hyderabad is surrounded with many historical mosques, tombs and other monuments including the very famous Golconda Fort and Qutub Shahi Tombs. Visitors can spend an entire day exploring the stone-walled zigzag pathway etched with hidden stories of the Fort, hence it is highly recommended to use a guide to feel most enriched with your sightseeing. Many travellers often miss the large green expanse of the Qutub Shahi tombs, which welcome you as you enter the narrow lanes of Tolichowki. Make this a picnic day with your family and friends but for all meat lovers, this place is a heaven with an amazing variety of kebabs, biryani, haleem and a variety of Arabic and Middle Eastern inspired food.

A Very Picturesque Golf Course
Mar 2019 • Friends
A breathtakingly beautifully located golf course within the Golconda fort. A course laid out on rolling hills with lots of water bodies. A challenging course if you cannot hit straight. I found the back nine much more interesting, though the front nine are lovely too. A very good practice area and a very good club house with the restaurant, bar and change rooms. Would love to go and play there again.

Beautiful fort walls & scenic views
Mar 2018 • Business
Playing golf inside the fort walls with centuries of history makes you go nuts, absolutely unique course in the world. Truely Awesome whoever came up with the idea of the location to have a golf course inside the fort itself, but can’t say the same about the course, no proper range to practice all the greens are of different consistency roughs are terrible & the lakes stink there is also lot of filth & plastic everywhere....if properly maintained can be one of the best in the world.

Most picturesque golf course
Feb 2019 • Friends
I have played in more than 500 golf courses all over the world. None to match the sheer beauty HGA has to offer. The course is tight with enough water to test the best. Greens are consistent and good paced.
A Must play if your a keen golfer.

Beautiful Course
Dec 2018 • Solo
Played here Solo on Christmas Day. A truly wonderful course with excellent service. Everything including the higher greens fees on a holiday, caddy fees with extra tip, half way house snack, couple of cocktails after the round, tips for the bar tender and the starter was around $45. This course is 3 x better than the Boulder Hills course that I played last year with just the green fees and cart running around $55. This course is well laid out. Even though it’s only 6,225 yards from the back tees, it proved to be hard from the back for my 15.5 index.

A Truly Unique Golfing Experience
Apr 2017 • Solo
I had the pleasure of playing this course during my trip to Hyderabad. I was provided a caddie that was very nice, helpful and inexpensive. There simply is nothing like playing within the walls of an ancient fort. Do not expect everything to be neat and manicured. This course is still relatively new by golf standards in a city that is also very new to golf. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the grounds, specifically the tee boxes and greens. If you visit Hyderabad and love golf, you must go.

Have you played golf in the middle of a Fort ?
Nov 2017 • Friends
This golf course is truly a gem, in some ways a bit undiscovered by those not from Hyderabad. The result of years of effort by a dedicated group of golfers who persuaded the State Government to allow the construction of a golf course in the midst of the historic Golconda fort, it has transformed what one hears was a neglected part of the fort into a pristine pasture of greenery. The full eighteen holes were inaugurated only a few years back, and now it is a tournament level course.

Initially one does not realize how expansive this course is until after the third hole, when one walks through a tunnel under the thick fort wall to emerge into a vast expanse of green surrounded by various centuries-old structures. The fourth tee box is actually built on the ramparts of the fort, to get to which one has to climb a good twenty feet.

One of the most interesting holes on this course is the seventh, an island green in the middle of a lake connected only on one side by a narrow strip of land. It makes for a challenging tee shot, and given that the green is only around 20 yards wide, presents a devilishly narrow target from the tee box more than a 120 yards away.

If the front nine challenges you with it’s central water hazard, the back nine is full of elevation changes. One hole the likes of which you may not easily find on Indian courses is the eleventh, where the green is situated around 40 or 50 feet above the tee box, atop a small hill. The hole looks deceptively simple, but if your ball falls even slightly short, it can roll all the way back to where you’re standing as you watch in agony.

Then there’s the seventeenth, which to a high handicapper is perhaps the most challenging hole on the course. From a tee box situated on a hill, you need to drive well past two hundred yards to carry the water hazard far below, or lay up before the water on a landing area whose contours you can only guess as a large tree blocks your view !

The clubhouse is also nicely designed, with a generous verandah overlooking the eighteenth green, and a well stocked pro shop and gym. One hears that the club is looking to set up a new driving range with much longer yardage than the current one, which may alter the layout of the first few holes a bit.

A wonderful golfing experience that is certainly worth the visit. Perhaps the club can do more to advertise itself, and set up ancillary facilities like a swimming pool and a tennis court to make it an all-around sports club.

Historically situated golf course
Oct 2015 • Business
I recently enjoyed 18 challenging holes of golf at this course which is set within the grounds of Golcunda Fort complex (circa 1500's). The course is highlighted by many elevation changes, lots of water hazards, including a spectacular island green. If you are a golfer this course is an experience not to be missed during your time in Hyderabad.
