About
Makruzz is a luxury catamaran service, operating between Port Blair, Havelock in Neil in the emerald isles of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It is the first and the largest privately owned fleet in the Andamans. The professionalized service coupled with luxurious interiors and fastest travel time has made MAKRUZZ, a favourite and the first choice of tourists and islanders alike, despite the presence of increased competition over the years. On its initiation, the passenger ferry was dedicated to the tourism industry by the then Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM. The owners and the staff continue to dedicate immense efforts to improve user experience and aid the growth of Brand Andaman. Today, MAKRUZZ remains not only a top attraction but also a vital infrastructure in the tourism industry of the islands.

On the way to Havilock we had a front seat. The seating is fine, we sat comfortably. The sea was very rough on the way out so many passengers vomited. The smell was terrible. They could think about using some odour reducing smell throughout so the rest of the passengers can be comfortable for the long journey instead of being forced to bear the terrible smell for more than an hour on an 1,5 hour trip. On the ship they only sell dry and unhealthy food. Coffee comes out of a sort of vending machine that they have behind the counter and is only available with sugar. Especially on an early start, 7.30 am, with check in at 6.30 am, people wouldn't have had breakfast in the hotel. The ferry company must look into serving a healthy option breakfast/food and fresh tea/water. A can is double then on the islands. A coke costs 50 Rupees, but on board they are asking 100 Rupees. My husband said the toilets were disgusting too, so really they need to look into customer service. Also I doubt most people, especially elderly people want to listen to loud music for an hour or so, even though I like Indi pop it's a bit much when all people want to do is catch up on some sleep , even the youngsters!

We travelled by MAK3 Pearl from Havelock island to Port Blair on Monday 9th May 2022. The ferry had been suspended for two days prior to this because of the Government warning about Cyclone Asani. Naturally the ship was very crowded on both inbound and outbound trips.
This is a very fast, comfortable and air-conditioned ship run by a competent crew.
The weather was good on land at the time of our starting but the open sea was extremely turbulent, tumultuous and rough.
I had read about the unpredictable weather and ferry services of the Andamans even before I came here. So I had taken the precaution of allowing a 24-hour of margin of error/ unpredictable problems for my flight ticket out of Port Blair on the following day. That was a wise decision.
All ships plying in these seas can have unpredictable delays based on the weather. In these situations the Harbour Master is the final deciding authority to allow or disallow the boats to ply.
In my case the sea turned rough within fifteen minutes of starting from Havelock island. It was a turbulent, tumultuous, and an unbelievably rough crossing.
One moment the ship was riding the crest of a very high wave and the next moment it was slamming down into the following trough. It was very much like a roller coaster ride.
This went on for the most part of our journey of one hour and forty five minutes.
The cabin crew did their best to assist the 250 passengers most of whom were throwing up their breakfast and possibly the dinner. At some point it seemed that there weren't enough sea sickness bags to go around.
I was happy that at least there were enough life boats for the passengers. But to be practical, no life boat could have saved us from those gigantic waves.
It was a miracle and the extreme competence of the Captain and the crew that safely delivered us to the Haddo jetty in Port Blair even though we were an hour behind time .
I'm sure that many of the passengers might have missed their flights due to the various delays in the ferry service.
All I can say is that it is impossible to budget for the weather related contingencies while travelling in the Andamans.

We travelled 2 times in Makruzz, from Port Blair to Havelock and Havelock to Port Blair. Very Comfortable and nice cruise. Big Screen TVs are there and nice view of the ocean from the windows. Also a snacks counter is there where they sell samosa, sandwich, patties, chips etc at very reasonable price.
The whole process of verifying tickets and documents, checking in the luggage etc was very smooth. It was on time on both the days. While returning back from Havelock to PortBlair, they changed the schedule, they cancelled the direct cruise from HV to PB, instead we had to go from Havelock to Neil first and then from Neil to PortBlair, but they called us one day before and informed us (we had bokked tickets directly from their website). Earlier, the time for reaching PB was 11 am but with this change we reached at 12:30 pm, but we were ok with it as our flight was at 3:30 pm. In Andaman, cruises are very unpredictable, they get cancelled or timings get changed, so try not to have the flight on the same day or have enough time margin. One more thing one should keep in mind, that the luggage is taken only when you are boarding the cruise, and one has to walk a long distance after you enter the premises and to reach the cruise. So carry only luggage that has wheels, else it can be very inconvenient,.

Journey from PortBlair to Havlock Island was good but without any hospitality . But at the time of need they played a negetive roles. On 19th March due to notification from IMD the last Cruz could not come to Neil Island for taking it's passengers (about 100 nos), to PortBlair. But other shipping companies had preponed their ferries and picked up their passengers within 12 hrs of that day. But this worthless Makcruzz created a total mesh in their office at Neil Island, without any proper communication and bad behaviour of their staff. Ultimately we had to overstay for one night more in our own cost. After 5, 6 hours vigorous persuasion from different passengers we could reach Port Blair in a Government ship at our own cost. Thanks to Andaman Administration.
One Month passed, till date No Refund has been credited to my account for seven heads although about fifteen times conversation and fifteen mails done.
I shall never recommend this Cruise to anyone, for it's unprofessional irresponsible negetive attitude.

Not worth booking it in advance. We booked royal class one month in advance as per the time and seat suitable for us, but last moment they just cancels the cruises if they dont get enough passengers. And will try to fit you in in any available seats. We got standard seats middle rows in another cruise.
This happened for both of our cruise from port blair to havelock and return. Staffs at havelock were very rude and instead of helping us with the seats told to cancel the booking and stay back in havelock. We opted for Nautica’s ferry after cancelling this and are still waiting for refund.
Would suggest to book the ferry directly from the jetty if you are going in an off season. We travelled in may end.

We had three booking with confirmed seats from Port Blait to Havelock, from Havelock to Neil and from Neil to Port Blair. The confirmed seats were changed by the staff at the time of boaring for all the three trips without any explanation and when we aksed about the same they simply did not repsond. Cockroaches were running around the ship which clealry shows the level of higiene being maintained

Very very poor customer service! Absolutely unprofessional.
We had ferry tickets booked for 21 March and with the cyclone warning, makruzz was most incompetent and not even willing to accomodate. Initially they said we can reschedule and no response and no email, no one even picks up the phone.. only after multiple messages and calls i understand there would be charges. No one picks and and no one responds and no one has the time!!! They can chat on what's up but not call.
All our hotels like the Taj or lemon tree and all our flights were most accomodative excepting Makruzz .
Extremely unprofessional and unpleasant experience.
If possible atleast have the courtesy for someone senior to respond

Booked ferry tickets for Jan'22 and later got them cancelled, due to Covid19 restrictions, by sending email well in time as per their cancellation policy. Got a confirmation about cancellation and told that refund would be issued soon. After multiple follow-ups over email they confirmed refund within 45 days. It's been more than 3.5 months now but the refund has not been issued yet.
BEWARE of booking any ferry tickets from Makruzz!!

Although the ferry was clean, it was extremely mismanaged with extreme delays. We were not informed of delays till we reached the jetty where we are made to stand long hours in the sun and wait for them to start boarding. After all this, they are unable to manage the crowd and everybody starts to push their way through with the staff unconcerned about the same. We saw other ferries ( green ocean, itt and even the government ferry) being managed much better.

Very BAD experience. Looks like a CHEAT company. I booked some tickets in Dec 2020 and they were cancelled by them. I asked for refund and they told me initially that you will get refund in 7-8 days. However now even after 1 and half a month they have not refunded my Rs 10K + and they even stopped responding on emails /phones etc.
Not only me, I checked their social media pages and found that they have cheated many other people.
I am definitely considering filing this in Consumer forum as I don't see my refund coming back soon

Hello all! My flight is landing in port blair at 11.55 and the next Makruzz ferry is at 2. Can i make it? I would preferably avoid staying at PB at the beginning of the trip as I must spend one day on my return journey.

It will be very risky.. If your flight is delayed by any chance, then not only will u miss ur ferry, but u will not get the tickets for the next ferry since these ferries always run full and u need 2 book ferry tickets well in advance..

We booked a cruise from PB to Havelock for November 6th 2021, but for some reason we were told it's cancelled due to technical issues. Can someone please please advice what are the other alternatives to travel to Havelock (or just any other island) without a ferry? I heard seaplanes or non functional.
Our ferry to Neil Island as well was cancelled a week ago. Hence we changed the entire trip to only Havelock. And now this happened.
We have flight at 2:15pm and we booked makruzz from 11:30am which reaches port blair at 12:30pm
We are concerned if makruzz are on time, or it does late whatever the mentioned time .kindly suggest
