This fancy clock was nice to see. The area around it is also nice and very popular with tourists. There is also a information board that explains a bit more about the clock.

This is a very beautiful clock, and when people share pictures of Batumi, they often include or even highlight this clock. It is set against a very dramatic background of Lenin Street or European Square, and looks beautiful at any time of day or night. I would definitely recommend taking a picture with it when you pass by on your way to the Boulevard.

If you want to sit at a cafe nearby and enjoy the area, I suggest Chocolatte, a small cafe a block away. You can see the tower from their outdoor seating, as well as the Turkish Consulate Building and a beautiful ivy covered residential building.

The clock has a unique history, and you'll discover it's artistic qualities extend beyond it's facade onto the buildings that border it. And the restaurant below it is expensive but has a lot of options. There is apparently a beautiful rustic courtyard behind it, but I have never seen it except through the doorway.

Located in a corner of the beautiful Europe square on a tower of the former National Bank building, the clock displays not only the current time of the day but also other astronomical information like the phases of the moon, position of the other planets and zodiacs etc.

The main business at Europe square is gambling and unfortunately not science. The clock serves an ornamental purpose. Perhaps for this reason it is not working and nobody seems to care about repairing it. Still a nice decoration of a Disney like palace.

At first I thought it was a castle, then later I realized it was the Astronomical Clock. Nice architectural design, the building is located closed to Statue of Poseidon.

This astronomical clock somehow reminds me of its counterpart in the old townhall in Prague, Czech Republic. The building where we find the clock is not very original either. It made me think of a castle in Disneyland. Kitsch as Kitsch can.

The building is so beautiful and then the former President stuck this clock face on it for what purpose we never could figure out!

I was last in Batumi 18 years ago and it has really changed a lot since then. This is but one example of new architecture in the intervening period. At night it's not so clearly visible unfortunately.
